  1. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

    Update from a while ago:
  2. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Gee - some people have no idea. When you know everything about the run, then you can comment on how 'slow' my car is or how 'little' power this whole combination makes. When you realise that the 1/4 mile is not the be-all and end-all of measurement you will realise that the whole setup is...
  3. Detonation no matter what i do. GRRRR! lol

What's your base timing set to?
  4. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Took it to the track couple of weeks ago on my tune (no dyno figures).Due to oil downs I only got 2 runs, so there's more in it..Fuel is E43 Shanked the 1-2 change ( have to change into 5th )11.24 @ 124mph with a 1.88 60'Boost:
  5. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Update - finally..Well, tuned it myself on the road after I couldn't find anyone else...This is starting point. By no means is the tune finished or complete. This is also the first car I've tuned from scratch.... Tuned on the road & logged. Went to the dyno to see what it read and...
  6. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Tune is now in progress..Boost logInjector Duty (FIC 950's with AFR of 11.3
  7. Gizzmo Electronic Boost Controller anyone?

I have an MS-IBCHard to setup correctly and it will always 'shoot' for the peak boost made, regardless of gain settings.. If it's cold and it spikes 1psi it will ALWAYS try to maintain the higher boost level achieved. That said, holds 25psi to redline nicely on a 68hta 17psi internal gate...
  8. 2G What is oil pressure supposed to be?

As aboveMine is cold idle 75psi Warm idle 25psi General driving 50-75psi WOT 75psiNo BS's and (very) ported housing..
  9. HOW BAD ARE YOUR DSM's STREET MANNERS?

WeakNo AC (in 110 Deg F) Catless 3" straight thru 5 puk Japanese suspension (kidney killers on the softest setting) and Cusco RS 1.5 diffs front and rear.I I get another "I think your CV's are blown" comment I'll spit. It's that bad my wife hates it sitting in the Garage...
  10. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Same tune for both turbo's - nothing dialed in here :)Nothing changed on the EBC either, one turbo holds boost, the other doesn't.Will attempt to run the 68hta at the same boost as the E3 on this same tune...
  11. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Either way, there is no doubting the power THIS turbo makes.. Lets not get away from the fact the E3 16g on my E3 could not make power to the level where you guys make it on your setups - it's not comparable..All I have is 260 / 260 cams, straight through 3" and 560cc injectors with a pump...
  12. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

I see what you mean with the flaws in the E3 setup, but this was a stock fitted turbo with my ebc Vs FP fitted turbo with the same ebc. There's too many evo 3's down here making under 300hp @ all 4 for me to be satisfied mine was a 'typical' result when I got it dynoe'd..You can spend...
  13. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

As factory as factory fitted; same shape as it was the day it left Japan :)Even in 34 degrees today she hammers along. Here's the kicker - check the AFR's!There's power there for the taking with a tune :)
  14. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

This is the best I could get out of the E3 when I dynoed it (in cooler conditions). Factory actuator wouldn't hold boost and it would detonate like nothing else at the first sign of boost or timing. The only thing that changed between these two runs was the turbo - and the new turbo's pent...
  15. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Dyno today - Shoot 4F so no fudging the figures..20L BP98 + 5L tolly + 5L Hybrid Jungle Juice (Sunoco 106)Holds 25psi boost nicely, torque is good and power figure left me scratching my head as to how good it was..(Check the air & intake temps..)Massivly impressed with the...
  16. innovate lc-1 wideband install

Good luck, I can't get mine to work after 3 months.....
  17. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Dyno booked for Tuesday.Hrmmm, not so rich anymore are you? Did you use the same wideband to log your AFR's last time when you reported 10.0:1?Last time was logged on the dyno with an Autronic wideband. This was done on the road with the LM2What are you using for a Mass Air Flow Sensor...
  18. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Annoyed this is taking so long, BUTLogged afr's last night on an innovate LM2..Dialed in a bit more boost - 23.3 psi (she goes alright too  )I have touched nothing on the car except the turbo, 3rd gear pull ~30mph - ~75mph (3rd gear) and this is what it's doing.Japanese ECU -...
  19. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

    Hopefully this week!
  20. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Didn't get the tune done yesterday – 110 Degrees!!
  21. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

All good! :cool:Firstly: Quick snap of it Vs my E3 turbWent for a quick drive, the verdict:Perfect MatchMore progressive and linear power delivery than the E3 turbo. ZERO loss of power down low - bit more intake noise (I like that) E3...
  22. Estimate my performance threshold? EVO III swap

E III Motor has a weak piston design and toothpick rods to reduce rotating mass - 17psi max
  23. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Turbo fitted up 100% and all plumbed in - booking the dyno tomorrow. Not much weather forecast under 100 deg F this week though! Tuesday 19th might be ok - 'only' 86 deg F forecast..Empty house and looking after #1 tonight so can't go for a blast. Will take her around the block tomorrow...
  24. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

    Billet goodness.....
  26. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Turbo arrives on the 10th. Should have results within a 2-3 weeks...
  27. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

I hope to get a baseline done very soon.. Turbo goes on as soon as I can get it on (should be here early next week) - then return for another power run to check it all out.As for a final tune to exploit the FP68 - found out today that will have to wait until early next year as the guy I want...
  28. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Strm Trpr: Point taken, although..The japanese ecu's, if anything 'go rich' when boost is turned up. It already pulls 10.0's up top..Obviously if the turbo does really well and it goes lean we'll get off it, so thanks.fwiw, running forged 2.0 - Eagle rods, Manley pistons.
  29. FP68HTA - Back to Back Vs an E3 16g!

Seeing as I can't post in any sections other than noob - here I go.I've recently ordered (should be here any day) the FP68HTA through MAP (Cheers Adam). It's being shipped down here in Australia :) and I'll do some back to back dyno runs to gauge how it performs for us 'normal' folk running...

  32. My Engine Build

Forced Perfomance do a 50 trim in BB - it's an fp3150.Pricey - nearly as much as a 3052, but bolt on in a good housing..It's said to match a 3052 in power to 22psi, but with better spool.Forced Performance Turbochargers: DSM FP3150 Ball Bearing Turbocharger
  33. Running rough - but only when warm??????

Got a problem with my Evo 3 (2g). All mods in profile.Freshly rebuilt (0 km) Cold start perfect Cold idle perfect @ 1200 - 1600rpm ( high, but not played with management yet) Drives under cold (engine) conditions perfect Once warm - and switches into closed loop - it splutters, won't...
  34. Eclipse AWD transmission swap do i got to remove transfer case first?

You can't get the box off with the transfer case still on. Impossible!
  35. JDM Red Top Motor

It's from a Galant / VR46 bolt, blue top 450cc injectors, vacuum activated butterfly runners. Turbo could be a 16g (small)
  36. Engine dies under load after swap.

Did you find out what the problem was?I have the same issue..Cold start ok, idles fine for as long as you want it to..Go for a drive and then splutters and dies. Won't atart again for ages.. Cranks over and when it does start, it's like the timing is way off and it has huge cams AND an...
  37. Which housing to go with Evo III mani

Does that mean if I buy an FP 2.5" O2 housing (for an FP ex housing ) I'll need to modify my DP to suit the angle of my (aftermarket) E3 DP?Or is that a 14b opposed to a 16g issue? If that's the case, I may aswell get an O2 custom made to suit my E 3 DP.Cheers.
  38. rebuilt engine and now it doesn't run right.

    Your cams are 180 out
  39. pics!!! come looky

As above, you may be 180 Degrees out - I'll bet that's what it is..Just because it lines up, it doesn't make it right.

  44. evo 3 questions

Don't bother going an evo III motor for 370whp. They have weak pistons & smaller rods.Have a look at my thread for engine bay details..http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/project-build-logs/322311-mitsi-evo-iii-oz-11-575-115mph.htmlIf you want detailed pix of anything I have the head...
