Hey I have a 95' Eagle Talon Esi. When I start it up it idles a little high like normal until its warm. Oncew it's warm it idles rough and I can watch the rpms on my tcah move anywhere from 650 rpms to 1200 rpms. Also when I push in my clutch while driving my rpms drop very slowly. It has done this for a few months and finally I got a check engine light. When I did the ignition code method i got 12- airflow sensor, 32- MAP sensor, and 55-IAC motor. If anyone has any idea what is wrong I would appreciate it.

95weclipse is right change it out the iac this, if one of the following goes bad it usually throws off all 3 of the codes you described seen more than one post like this usually the case

Thank you for the imput, btw I found one on ebay for $15, it says it has a lifetime warrenty. Is it worth trying? because it is significantly cheaper than autozones price.

You can usually find them used for around $40 (Genuine Mitsubishi part...I have a few extra good ones from the days of still using ISCs). Your car does not necessarily need an ISC (although it will be a rough runner in cold environments). But then again I don't drive my car in the cold and if I did, I have DSMLink simulate my ISC operation. I would say the best solution would be DSM Link and a JM Fab FIAV block off plate.

Well, I did the iac and saw no differnece, although cleaning the filthy throttle body and intake helped it accelerate some. Also i have a new issue it feels like its missing under load. I replaced my plugs about 500 mniles ago so its not them, any ideas? Is this part of my problem or are my wires or coil pack bad in addition to my current problems?

Also what is dsm link and a a JM Fab FIAV block off plate?

I am getting annoyed with this car, could my ecu be going bad and causing all my problems? Any help is appreciated!

Ok so my problem still hasn't been fixed, but my new guess is the MAP sensor, this is my guess because it could missread vaccum and cause the rpms to drop slowly after acceleration not knowing if the engine was under load or not, also my missing could be becuase of retarded timing, what do you guys think?

Hey Rico,

I've got the same issue with my 90 talon 2.0L turbo.
I've talked to a guy that has worked on these for a while and it sounds like you've got the same problem as I. Can you hear a lot of ticking? If so, valves got to be cleaned. My guess is that your knock sensor is picking up the tick from your valves and that might be what is causing your missing. So I've been told at least. I was told that you can take the cover off and pry the arms up and remove the valves without removing the camshafts. Which sounds pretty easy. Then just clean them out. I was also told that you can add another one of the copper washers to help with the sensor retardation(whatever you wanna call it). =P Anyways hope this helps out. As far as the idle problem goes sounds like you fixed your problem. I've got to do the same. Clean the throttle body and intake.

have you made sure there is no vacuum leaks? i would check those first since those are really cheap fixes, before you start replacing the more expensive stuff

Lorenzo, I much appreciate your imput, but I can't hear a tick and the head was rebuilt before I bought it so I would doubt that anything should be dirty. Also I sprayed brake cleaner on all of the vaccuum lines and didn't notice a difference in idle so I kinda don't think those are bad but they all are very old so I may replace some anyway.

Also I take it that no one agrees with the MAP sensor?

I replaced the plug wires, it no longer misses and it idles alot better, also the engine is quiter which is good. Its not allfixed but its alot better

My car has been idling funny when I start it it revs high when cold but when it’s warm the rmp bounces up and down and I kinda wanna buy the right piece that will fix it for good instead of getting a hole bunch of parts
