Hey guys I looked everywhere trying to figure out how to read the wiring diagram for the DRL ECU in the canadian spec models, and i've come up empty.

What I am trying to do is cut the wire that runs the high beams at 50% power during the day, and tap into it with my new LED setup, but I have no idea which wire does what, I took a pic of the wire colors and the wiring diagram in the haynes manual... I seem to only understand wiring if I know what the color codes mean.

I know black is ground
I assume white is neutral
I also think that the red is the main power feed wire that probably supplies full power to high beams
That leaves me with blue wire and yellow with blue dashes.

If I were to take a stab in the dark I'd guess yellow-blue is the wire I want

Answered my own question with a different wiring diagram that is MUCH easier to read... So if anyone else needs this info it appears yellow-green is the wire that runs half power continuously until R-B are toggled on by the DRL relay which is ran by the white wire. Black still being ground.

Here is the diagram that helped me

In post 2 you're missing the other wiring diagram page (probably page 4-18) to be able to see how it really works. That page is needed to see exactly where the off page A,B,C,D connections go (especially since it looks like there's another DRL relay (1) missing which is probably the DRL ECU itself).

And there is no R-B wire shown like you mention. Also L is blue not black. So R-L is red with blue marker (marker can be a stripe, dashes, or rings). The wiring diagram in post 2 may or may not be the same wiring as the one in post 1 - can't really tell without the missing page. I have the 1996 DRL wiring diagram which matches your post 1 wiring diagram. In post 1, without high beams on, the DRL ECU outputs partial power on it's (F)2R-L wire going to the high beam filaments. When high beams are on, the high beam relay puts full voltage on that (F)2R-L wire. {FYI: The (F) just means it's a flexible wire and the "2" is the wire size (2 square mm's which is 14 AWG gauge)}.

Oh shoot you are right, this throws a wrench in everything. So, interesting, if thats the case I need to rethink my wiring setup. Im thinking instead to run my LED DRL's into my horn power feed so that as long as my ignition is switched, they will be on. Then buy a module to keep my high beams from hyper flashing while they are running half power

Here is the other page to the second diagram

Here is the 3rd page of the diagram 3/3. Still if the relay runs half power through the red wire then I cant simply cut and tap that wire, because then my high beams wouldnt work. I wanted to be able to toggle my DRL's off when I have low beams on, but I suppose I will just have to run them continuously
