I'll need more info on the conversion. I really don't want to have to change a bunch of stuff i've done already.
Im just waiting on the info myself so once i have it i can post it up

He will be making the rack housing depowered and closing all the holes up as normal yes,

Then he will put together the new manual rack and pinion into said housing and do what he does to set them up
sorry if you've already covered it, but what would be the total price?

Bobby, just to add some EPS info. I found this online when I was looking to add EPS to one of my tractors. I went with the Nissan Versa since that’s what was in my u pull yard.

The thing you have to be careful of is all the newer cars use CAN communication and when the ESP control unit can’t talk to the other functions it doesnt always work. This link has some plenty good choices of cars whose EPS unit works with out canbus.

On the Nissan Versa setup it was literally 3 wires. The 10 gauge power and ground then a signal on like the ignition on switch. On my tractor it’s fine to be on all the time. I’m sure in a car you would want to find a way to turn it off at speed.

Pics of my setup on the tractor.

For the record the unit is dead silent. I wast even sure it was working at first until it got easier to steer. In the Nissan Versa it the unit is just aft of the steering wheel. So it’s in the cabin under the dash... pretty easy to get to.

@dsmcrzy same article I looked at several times. I already bought up several GM eps units, so a little different (require the dummy knob to vary assist level) but great info. One but I like about the versa and Prius etc models is the Auto center feature. I've heard the GM units don't retain this always, and it's a nice aspect.

Cool install on the tractor, bet it works great!

for the rack and pinion shipped thats $310 on its own, then what ever route you decide to go down depends on the extra costs?

EMW do do the work thats about another $250 (est)
the EPS kit is also around ($250)

some may just want to do it themselfs conversion wise so may save some funds.

Thats correct, the new age stuff is a little OTT and needs too mny nputs for such a simple task! its also why there are so many options and people doing there own swaps and alot are just whipped from another car and good ol engineering comes into play here,

the kits that are not specific and custom cost alot like $800+ but at least these are universal and open units, so we gotta use what we gotta use cost wise if we want nice stuff LOL.

im mainly just focusing on the rack and pinions being produced as I think its certainly something good to come out and the rest can be done later down the line or someone might want to make a custom fully open unit but at a price that wont be cheap i bet,

so what i have got so far in terms of people assisting is great so far and the main bulk is already pre done, just installing thats needed

so here is what I have so far info wise!

the units come to you ready to bolt in and wire up! like close enough to plug and play,
the EPS kit will come with the shaft pre-welded onto the housing anf its just a case of removing the existing column and bolting this one on then just the wiring, the ignition needs to be taken off for the work and put back on once installed. its a fairly basic EPS setup but thats all you need, if it has to be more advanced then more money has to be paid for other options but currently this is the only option that I have found for us,

if you wish to have more adjustment or advanced setups then please look here http://www.dcemotorsport.com/Home/EPAS#ProMotor

I tried reading through to catch back up in the thread but now I am left confused.. The thread is now a EPS kit? So we still do the manual conversion rack and add the EPS/column assembly if wanted?

So the cost for this is:

-$310 for the kit
-$250 for it to be installed
-$250 for the EPS kit
Totaling $810 plus the shipping of the rack x2?

Am I figuring this correctly?

You dont HAVE to do an eps kit at all, thats for those wanting some power assistance, so its an OPTION really.

310 would include the shipping (shall confirm nearer to it actually happening as it may alter) of the racks to Brandon at EMW, then your rack to and from him yes,

The rest is an option. And you dont need to do it straight away or even get eps, so your figures are correct for the most part,

Count me in for the whole kit, manual rack and EPS. I can't pass up the opportunity to keep assisted steering without the mess under the hood!

im going to get my arms out the way and then make a dedicated sale thread! that way its not confusing and all info will be on the first page and then we can go from there, hopefully I can fill the 30 spots Quaife has given me as a minimum order to get this processed,

How much is the rack w/complete EPS kit?
I’d do the install.
You will do the install of the rack in the housing correct? Is that how im reading it.

If so then that takes off eatons fee, so your looking at 560 ish, the eps kit is dependant on if its single units being made vs a few being made at once so its discounted for us if we do a few at a time,

Sorry, no.
Please give me a price for the EPS fully assembled ready for me to install in my car and drive.

Also, please give me a price for a manual rack ready for me to install in my car and drive.

The eps kit is 250 or 280 depending if he gets a batch done at once,

The rack installed in the housing will cost 560 ish by the time its done,

So the break down is like this,

Rack & pinion 310 (to confirm at exact order as shipping pallets and exchange rates alter daily. But wont be far from it.

Eps kit 250-280

Rack conversion / install 250ish,

So, $560 for a manual rack ready to install into my car?

And the EPS kit plugs into the same manual rack and gives it power?

I’m 110% down for a manual rack!

The rack will come back from EMW ready to install with the oem setup, this is am much as you go if you want a true manual rack,

If later on or lets say someone wants it assisted then the eps kit just replaces the column and its all ready to bolt up and wire in (some wiring required of course)

Thats it really, its as simple as i can possible get it and figure out, its 3 people offering different things but should all work out just fine. Im just the one arranging it all from my end LOL

Can I pay you now so I can secure a spot for the manual rack with the EPS kit?
No, im going to make a thread shortly, all details will be placed in there as you dont pay me for the eps kit.

now the arms are out of the way I shall be making a new proper dedicated sale thread on this next week! so keep an eye out for it!
