I was browsing around here the other day and read in one topic (can't remember which one) about something regarding improper injector firing order on 2G cars with 6 bolt swaps, because of something with the inverted CAS signal that also causes the random misfire problem. I wasn't able to find anything else about it and was wondering if someone can go into more detail for me.

The other thing this made me think of, is that I'm considering buying the coil on plug setup, which is completely bolt in (yes I know its overkill but its not much more than new coils). But I'm wondering if the wiring will have to be redone, because I also read something in that topic about swapping plug wires around to get he firing sequence right. I'm kinda confused and haven't seen these things mentioned anywhere else.

you need to swap 1&4 with 2&3 and there is also much more info on RRE's website about this they also have the diagram on which pins you need to swap in you ecu to get the right firing order

hope I was of some assistance

There are three wires on your coil plug. Two of them are blue.If you swap the two blue wires this is an alternative to swapping plug wires and you wont have mess with wiring on your coil on plug set up.

The injector firing order you read about is to help smooth out the operation of your car. I tried it both ways to see the difference and after the swap, my car started up easier and just overall ran better.

If you are using RRE's method 2 for your 6-bolt swap (http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g95-96M2.htm) then you should to the injector wire swap as well

From the ECU:
Green: Pin 1 is now 14
Green w/ yellow stripe: Pin 2, is now Pin 1
Green w/ red stripe: Pin 15, is now Pin 2
Yellow w/ black stripe: Pin 14 is now Pin 15

Or you could do what I did and buy an Evo3 manifold. It reverses the coils on the bracket and your plug wires still go to the correctly labeled coil.

Ok thanks for the good info. One more question now. The swap was done by a trusted local DSM shop for the previous owner. Would I be able to tell which method was used just by looking at which plug wires go to which coil towers? And then assuming if they're all normal they must have done the connector wire or ecu wire swap..

My coil pack faces the drives side, I've never seen another DSM setup like that, most seem to face forward. Anywho...

It looks like this from the front of the car:
_
H_
H_
H_

That's my sad attempt at showing you how they're oriented. The big H's are the coil and lines are the towers. If setup like stock, what tower goes to what cylinder (starting with the top one closest to the firewall).

I'm just trying to avoid putting the coil on plug thing on and blowing up the engine with a firing order that's like 180* off.

Ok wait, I went back and read that and now I'm really confused. I thought everyone was talking about ignition wire swapping. That last post probably won't make any sence to anyone.

So is the injector wire swap worth the trouble if its not already done? My engine has always idled like garbage and since putting in the 550s its got significantly worse (even after the tune). That's why I brought this up.

Ok so sorry for bringing back such a old thread but when it comes to using a 1g cas green top on 2g head with 6bolt swap using 98 ecu black box which is the better route in your opinion on the injector pulse signal swap? Do it at the ecu or the injector wiring harness I have already changed coil pack firing order but I literally heard the injectors get pissed off when the car would rev up and start to misfire because I haven’t changed the injector firing order yet. It’s a customer/friends car and the swap just got done and he isn’t running any engine management yet. The car is running 450cc with 14b turbo remember 2g head 6 bolt swap. Trying to get him to either go with link or ecuflash with tantrix open port 2.0 but I’m pretty sure he is happy with the older style apexi 2 SAFC anyway curious to get some opinions on this. Thanks

Wait, 1g cas and a 98 ecu? It's the same firing order. Nothing is different. If it was a 95/96 ECU then firing order is different. If 97-99 then no mods needed
