Hello Everyone!
I am ready to build and turbo my very first eclipse Gs 420a non Turbo.

It's been years since I have been wanting to do this and now I am finally in a place where I can do this.

I know that there are people on here that are for and against doing this to a 420a but this has been a dream of mine for years...No one will be able to change the mind of a person that is determined to accomplish something that people see as no worth it!

For those of you who have done it and have got it to the point where you can use it as a daily I applaud you and hope to get some of your guidance and wisdom!

I am requesting blueprints to building the engine up and adding turbo.

Thank you in advanced!

I’m not trying to sound like a jerk but have you looked through google and thread on here, dsmtalk and 2gnt.com? There’s tons of info out there.

You can check out my build thread for the parts that I used. My basic mentality was that I wanted to use all reliable parts and not cut any corners. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of money to get it to this point.

Engine wise at the bare min you want to get forged rods and pistons and head studs while you are in there. Cams and valve train upgrades are needed but will add power obviously.

There are countless threads out there about turboing a 420a.

No worries man,
I have looked but no one really goes into detail like what brands and model # they went with and how the end product came out and is currently running. I am trying to make atleast 3 built engines ready for drop and swap.

We never really allowed requests for "shopping lists". Besides, you're much better off researching the parts that will meet your needs for your goals. Corbin wrote a great rebuild article a decade ago and included a brief parts list to get you started:

I think (and hope) parts from the bigger manufacturers (Eagle, ARP, etc.) are all still available, but you might have some trouble findings things like underdrive pulleys and other "specialty" parts. A lot of manufacturers stopped supporting this platform. Keep an eye on the classifieds for used parts as they pop up.

I've owned my 95 rs for quite a while and it has the 420A engine. I've kept it stock for many years and I've slowly been upgrading it, while keeping the stock look. If you're serious about making it work, you must understand that after every upgrade, you have to re tune and break in the parts. Don't go upgrade crazy and not do the proper procedure. What I've done is upgraded the fuel pump, injectors first then tuned it properly. Once that was working right, I added my turbo and intercooler. I had to install a piggy back since I refuse to pay 1,200 for the ecu when there's nothing wrong with the stock one. I can't tell you what it has done for me since I haven't taken it to the dyno. Once I can then I'll post my results.
