I was going to fill out the template but apparently it didn't load up.. strange..

Boost leak tester keeps blowing off at 20psi.. haven't found a clamp that'll hold it yet for the hx40. @1990TSIAWDTALON @bastarddsm You guys just use a big t-bolt clamp to hold it for boost leak tests? because I'm not having any luck getting it to hold, and sorry you were the first two that I thought of that run holsets

Compression test good, plugs are BR8ES gapped to .020 mod list is up to date. I'm aware I'm running out of injector (I have 1250s to swap in, haven't gotten there) My catch can is vented straight to atmosphere and I haven't noticed any negative effects from it. (Per a lengthy conversation with a knowledgeable member I've decided to try it, so far so good)

I've slowly been turning up the wick on the holset, getting used to how it acts and reacts. trying to get the spoolup timing and afrs logged in. My only complaint currently is that my WB logs slightly off of what it reads. through my WOT pull I'd say my wideband gauge was reading about .5AFR richer than what is being logged in ecmlink.. working on that.

But all aside what do people think? anything I can improve upon? Sorry it's so much to read.

My pourous cover wont hold for shit. It is down right dangerous. Hairspray helps but who wants that on their turbo inlet?
My machined cover holds pretty dam well and yep I use tbolt clamps to hold it. Try TWO, but for gods sake, if you see it start to move at all, get out of there fast. No joke.
Mine spools at around 4400. It waits but gd when it hits it HITS and its hang on time!

I will attempt two this weekend, yeah I panic a bit in my head when I see that coupler start to slide off. May have to order a 4" T bolt clamp in the meantime.

I built one from lowes. 4" PCV threaded end cap. grabs pretty well there. but my comp cover doesn't have any lip on it... so it seems like its having a rough time grabbing. might have to try hairspray

IDK which WB you have but I recently changed from AEM to Innovate MTXL plus. A Billion times faster and way more accurate. Had the same issue as you where it was .5 difference from what link logged. Really had a hard time dialing in AFR with AEM. Your AFR's needs work.

It's an MTX-L Don't think it's the plus. whatever extremepsi had on black Friday sale a few years ago LOL moved away from the AEM one.. I kind of miss it to be honest, the AEM seemed to have a better design as far as getting it in and out of the pods (Unplugging right at the gauge) whereas the MTXL has little pigtails so it's kind of a bear getting everything stuffed up in there.

Take it off and have someone weld a bead on it, or try the jb weld method, or use a tool and grind some grooves in it. Lotta ways to skin a cat

just did one but we'll try her again LOL. hoping for the best. my log can't be too bad since nobodies jumped on me yet. even Brett @GST with PSI isn't yelling at me about my tps. LOL
Calibrate your TPS!!! :p

@Vegas smith Yup. New holset. new baby. new puppy. new house. too many news. puppy is 9 weeks old and almost 30lbs. I don't know where I find time to touch the cars anymore. LOL

@bastarddsm I'll try double clamping first tomorrow evening.. see how that works and move forward from there. jb welding a lip may be the route to go. I really don't want to have to pull the comp cover off

I've been so busy, I haven't been able to look at my own logs, much less anyone else's. I'll try and look it over this weekend.

Regarding the coupler blowing off, that's an easy fix. Get rid of that shit, and move to a V-band setup.

Brett, where did you get the correct size v-band coupler, I would like to vband my holset.

Thanks for the hookup!!

Somethings different with the setup.. I had to back the boost off and lower the timing as it was breaking up in the higher rpms (6k) I haven't really changed anything.. but it has gotten significantly warmer out the past few days and my coolant temps are drastically higher (213) ....its unusual for me. wondering if this is from the holset. @ErikTande you were battling similar issues yes? Marty, I still haven't installed the airdam under the car.. need to do that. but since my temps were staying pretty normal I wasn't worried.. til now.

My heat issues started long before the HX35. What fixed it was sealing the FMIC to the radiator except for the bottom where I added the small air dam as suggested by @1990TSIAWDTALON. That fixed it right up, runs perfectly cool now :thumb:

Joe, you are need to start sealing up the area's that air can get thru that aren't directing it to the radiator like Erik. I added that air dam to scoop up air going under the car. Mine is a bit big but you can trim to your liking. There are a lot of cars running around with the little air dams under the radiator so you have a lot of choices for a donor, I just happened to have the Camaro one on hand.
I actually think I was radiating heat INTO the radiator from my Holset hotside so my turbo blanket and wrapping my header and downpipe seemed to help keep the radiant heat off of my aluminum radiator.
