1st and foremost.... PLEASE, no crying from the 2G crowd, but I just wanted to ask the question that we all ask almost daily ;).. With my UNBIASED opinion I can say for the following reasons, the 1G RULES:

1.) Better body style, the curves of the 1G vs the 2G leave the 2G gasping for air and wondering why it looks like a a balloon animal gone bad.. :tease: :nono: :ohdamn: :banghead: :beatentodeath: :f-u: :idontknow:

2.) 6/4 combo which is the FTW basis of EVERY killer 4G63T build from now until the end of time.. :thumb:

3.) The cockpit takes you back to the time you busted your nut while watching Top Gun with your high school girlfriend.. :rocks:

4.) 2G NEVER offered Popup Headlights.. :hellyeah:

4.5.) Bigger Turbo, Bigger Kahones, Bigger you name it STOCK, ect ect.. 1G's came out of the gate ready to kick ass and take names.. 2G = a T25 stock? I mean really? no no no... I mean REALLY? 205 HP stock my dying arse no wonder the lime green 2G was the poster child.. :D ;)

5.) The Fastest DSM 1/4 time Stock belongs to the 1G :hellyeah:

6.) The MOST important difference is that there are ZERO 2G PLYMOUTH LASER DSM's in existence, therefore 1G's rule the DSM world for eternity..

The only thing I'd say the 2g has over the 1g is suspension design. Even that is dependent on how you track your car but 2g at least takes autocross/road race courses which are pretty damn fun.

One of the main reasons the 2g came with the t25 was for the added pep in lower rpms that apparently Americans complained about
Body style technically has better aero compared to 1g but not enough to matter in reality.

Biggest reason why I've always liked 1gs compared to 2gs is the weight difference..

Okay, I'll bite:

1.) Better body style, the curves of the 1G vs the 2G leave the 2G gasping for air and wondering why it looks like a a balloon animal gone bad.. :tease: :nono: :ohdamn: :banghead: :beatentodeath: :f-u: :idontknow:

2Gb Talon would like to have a word with you.

2.) 6/4 combo which is the FTW basis of EVERY killer 4G63T build from now until the end of time.. :thumb:
6 Bolt is overrated; 7 bolt only got a bad reputation because because the F&F crew got a hold of 2gs 10-15 years ago, promptly blew them up, and blamed their stupidity on Mitsu. 1g and 2g 4bolts are comparable.
3.) The cockpit takes you back to the time you busted your nut while watching Top Gun with your high school girlfriend.. :rocks:
Can't argue with that. 1g cockpit is like the glorious last gasp of the 80s interior design.
4.) 2G NEVER offered Popup Headlights..
Gonna get flamed like a Salem witch for this: good; pop-ups are ugly. 1gb is superior. 1GB Talon is divine.
idk, even with that smaller turbo, 2g makes more HP stock for stock... 190hp vs 210hp.

If the 1g setup is a sledge, the 2g is a jackhammer--a more refined way to accomplish the same destruction. T25 is shit in comparison with the 14b in terms of potential though; no argument there.
5.) The Fastest DSM 1/4 time Stock belongs to the 1G :hellyeah:
Fastest modified AWD 4cyl with a H pattern stick-shift word record is currently held by a '96 Talon: 7.04@204. Who keeps their DSM stock anyway (says the guy who owns a completely stock '97 Talon)?
6.) The MOST important difference is that there are ZERO 2G PLYMOUTH LASER DSM's in existence, therefore 1G's rule the DSM world for eternity..
Wait, there are Plymouth Lasers left? Haven't seen one of those, even on here, in many years.

I've had both.
Brand new 95 GSX and got it to put down 407whp, 11.7 @ 119mph with minimal mods. FP Green 660s Super AFC with supporting mods.
This 1g I got last October w 126k.
Both cockpits are similar. I'm a fan of both bodies.
The major issue I have is that the 2gs had weak transmissions. I went through 4, 2 replaced under warranty, 1 broke from 6 puck. The last one held with 4 spider gears diff.

Ive had both, the only one i still have is a 93 that ive had since 03. I loved my 97 and still love the looks of the 2gb but man a 1g is so much easier to work on. My 2g was so nice to dd i was the 2nd owner and i loved that thing. I wouldve kept it but it was rotting out to bad. Thats the thing it seems 2gs around here suffer from rust alot more than 1gs. But the 2gs hide it alot better. My 97 looked imaculated till you looked behind the side skirts under the hood or along the bottoms of the doors LOL. I sold it before it visually started looming bad. I still would lo e a 2gb as a dd but ill just keep my focus st itll do.

1gs are easier to work on. Think there's more room from what I can remember.

Gotta say, the interior in the 1g was way better, I liked that look. But overall, I'd stick with the 2g. Its a better looking design imo

I have a Laser that was built the same day, same plant and same color as my profile picture, which is my 1ga 1990 Talon......
I saw bigfoot!!!! :shhh:

I have a button to the right of the center vents. When I push that button, the top goes down. Suck it 1gs!

But seriously, I've had a couple of 1g cars, and cannot complain at all. But my first dsm was a 2g. my current Spyder has been with me for a decade now, and ive had a lot of good times with it, so 2gs hold a special place in my garage.

Wait, there are Plymouth Lasers left? Haven't seen one of those, even on here, in many years.

What, you think I would point out that fact without actually owning one? ;).. For your viewing pleasure I present my 30k original mile(29,776 as it sits) 92 Plymouth LASER 6/4 combo, de-badged except in the rear..:laser:

I've had both. More 1st gens than 2nd gens. All my AWD cars were 1st gens too.

I'd say for a Daily Driver I'd rather have a 2g.

For a Drag slut or a Rally / Rally Cross build I'd rather have a 1g even though the red demon wen 7.04 in a 2g. I'd rather have a McPherson strut setup for straight line, or anything off road.

Galant VR-4 > 1g + 2g + 420A + your mom

Better build quality all around. The door handles and wheels don’t fall off of 1g’s.
Nah the headlights just get stuck down, the dash peels apart, and the clutch pedal eventually starts trying to push left/right every time you step on it. Almost forgot about the turbo manifold and turbine housing cracking.

I liked my 2g daily, but 1gs are where it's at. I just love that early 90s style takes me back to my childhood.

Yeah, but the wheels don’t fall off and kill you.

I’ve had both, and worked on probably 100 dsm’s, the build quality is much better on the 1g’s. Body, suspension, trans internals, stock engine, stock turbo, all better.

Also the 2g rear end is only attached to the car with 3 bolts. They’ll shoot out the back of the car with a good launch.
