So, we're ALMOST at the point to start up our 95 gsx project we have been working on. You can find our other posts. All that said, the WONDERFUL people at Kiggly Racing offered to sponsor us and help us with the cost on a few needed parts. We know that we will need wideband, but fuel has always been a point of concern...

Aside from the upgraded internals that we put in, we are using all the mods that came with our car.
1g BOV (crushed)
Holset hy35 turbo
FMIC (brand unknown)
880cc injectors
DSMlink v2.

All that said, I do not know what fuel pump is in the car, but I have a walbro 255 that we can install. Otherwise I think the fuel system is totally stock. Looking at our other mods, where do you guys think we'll need to spend our limited cash? Being a school project for the students, I spend some of my own money to make this work. Our budget is limited. Though we can get lots of stuff from Oreilly's. We do get a nice discount from them and I have a larger "parts" budget, but it is limited to O'reilly's for the most part. (The red tape for anywhere else isn't usually worth it.)

I figured a adjustable fuel pressure regulator would be needed with the walbro pump. I've heard that the stock filter is a bottleneck. I did do a few searches, but most of the threads I read got derailed and the conversation went elsewhere.

Simple questions-
Do we need the AFPR? (I'm pretty sure yes)
Should we buy a kit or source the stuff we can from oreilly's to save money?
Fuel rail limits?
Buy an aftermarket fuel filter?
Fuel lines?

I appreciate your guys' help as always. I'm working a dozen different projects and I wish I could focus my time on this one more.

Honestly with fuel reg it's easier to buy a kit. Has everything that you need not that you need much to do it but it's not much of a savings piecing it together. O Reilly s at least around here is ridiculous expensive to buy an fittings and line, I know you get a discount but it'd have to be one hell of a discount to beat online prices.
For the fuel feed a lot of us just get a m14 1.5 I think is the pitch to 6 an then 2 fittings and line to the rail is all you need. That'd be all your going to need for an hy35 and 880 injectors really.

What are your goals? How much power are you planning to make? What fuel are you planning on running (pump gas, or E85)? If you're going to run a Walbro 255, then you won't need more than a -6 feed line. The stock return should suffice for a while, too. The AFPR is a must, and you won't need an aftermarket fuel rail anytime soon...unless you want a cooler looking one. I can give you a more solid answer once I have answers to those questions.

Thanks Will,

So far our class project, we're learning as we go. Right now the goal is to just get the best out of what we have. It may be a long time before we go with a bigger turbo or injectors. But, we'd like to get the best bang for our buck.

We cannot get a hold of e85 around here, so gas it is.

We've considered going with 6AN, but also just ding 3/8" hardline for most of it. That'd save us a lot of money. We could just use the 6AN on the ends.

One of the life lessons that I am working on with the kids is to "be cool" and not just "look cool". So we're focusing on actual performance, not pretty stuff. If we don't need a fuel rail, we'l pass on it for now.

For now we just want to get data logging setup and then determine if we have any major bottle necks. I just had a kid start pulling the fuel pump today to determine which pump we have. We'll put the walbro in if it is the stock pump.

So, I think we are going to upgrade the lines. Turns out that there was a 255 inside already. I'm going to do a 2' 6AN from the tank to a 3/8" hard line and another 2x 2' 6AN lines from the underside to the filter and from the filter to the rail.
