Hello everyone,

I am new to the DSM world, and i just had a simple question regarding the SBR 50 turbo. I am currently building a 7 bolt 2.3L motor for 95 GSX and I have this SBR 50 laying around. Thoughts about the turbo? Install it or should I go another route?

Thank you

I ran one for a year and never had any problems with it (I was on low boost though). I'd say if you already have it laying around and it is in good shape, just run it. You can always upgrade later if you decide to go larger or if the seals go in it.

What is the max psi this turbo can hold before it starts to lose power. Thank you for the information provided

If the turbo falls in your power goal range and the turbo was just rebuilt, run it. If it was rebuilt with other internals and is no longer a SBR 50, it's hard to say how the turbo will perform.

Varies by setup....although if you're asking how much boost a turbo can hold as opposed to how much airflow said turbo can make at a certain boost level you're planning on running, you're going about this the wrong way entirely.

From what I was told it was rebuilt with gt35 internals? You think its a good option to go with right now
That's impossible.

I ran a SBR 60-1 on my 2.3L for a while until it overheated and, well, fell apart. It was a great turbo with ~20psi hitting around 3300rpm. I'm now looking at a turbo that will better fit my daily driving habits and would love to try something in the size you have.

The others on this thread said it right already... what are your goals and how will you use the car? For a spunky 2.3L daily driver I think you're about in the sweet spot. For a drag racer I'd go bigger.

Please let us know how it's working out for you.
