Hi everyone. Just bought the 92 you see in my avatar. It's got 150,000 and 10,000 on the engine rebuild. It has an evo III turbo, 2.5 straight exhaust. When rebuilt the engine got forged pistons, new bearings, pumps, hoses and zero tick lifters. 6 puck clutch, light weight flywheel, strut braces, and k-sport rally coilovers. It also has 2 sets of wheels, enkies with all seasons and stock with snow tires. Sounds like a tank rumbling down the highway! Paid $3,200. Good deal?
I wasn't specifically looking for a tsi, I just needed a back up car for occasional use that would also be fun. I used to autocross and do track days, I've had a few miatas. Next week I'm going to my first rallycross event in Washington, so this car came with a new hobby! I figure I can get normal/track tires mounted on one set of the rims and lower the ride height down if I ever want to do a track day.
I heard these cars push, but after a few minutes of back road driving I got and distinct feeling if oversteer. I liked it!

Welcome! That's my favorite body style right there. Sounds like it's got pretty decent mods for the most part to have fun right away.

These cars do tend to understeer and they'll feel like a tank compared to your Miata on the track. But you will be able to crank the wheel and hammer the throttle midway through a corner and keep grip thanks to the AWD. Most people will throw in a larger rear swaybar and install a "toe eliminator" kit (check with @99gst_racer on those) to help combat the understeer, as well as test different spring stiffness in the rear.

If you really want to combat it without going overboard on the rear swaybar and rear spring stiffness, you can swap in an Evo rear diff:

I tracked my 91 quite a bit and had a blast. I never got to do the Evo rear diff swap but I would if I were to do it over again.
