Hi all!

After daydreaming about DSMs (particularly a white 91 Talon AWD) for the better part of two decades, I finally got my hands on one! While it's not the 1G that I had hoped to find, it's still what I believe to be a fairly rare find in these days. It's a 1998 Eclipse GSX that I bought from the second owner, who owned it a short time. I got really lucky. Clean title, zero rust, zero corrosion, and the only modifications are a K&N filter and EVO wheels. I got a slew of OEM parts from the seller and have acquired a huge amount on my own. Plans are to replace the entire front suspension, the entire front brake system, the clutch hydraulic system, full timing belt job with all oil seals, then tires, along with many other little maintenance items. The interior is very clean. Some panels need replacements and I'm hunting for a sunroof shade. It has the stock radio, but I'd like to do an early 2000s Alpine stereo. From there I'll have a better idea of what else needs to be done.

I have a long history with Honda and actually manage the Parts department at a dealership. I've had four 4G Preludes, a few Civic Si, two Accord (one is my first car and I still have it), a handful of Miata, an 07 STI, and a few other oddities over the years. While I've never owned a DSM that ran (had a 93 RS that was basically a parts car), many friends have had them and I've followed the vehicles closely. My best friend out in Utah has a 91 Talon that he's going to get out of storage to restore soon while I build mine.

My goal for this car is to clean it up and keep it as stock as I can. It's a third car for me, so it stays garage kept and will allow me to take all the time I need to make it as perfect as I can. I look forward to weekend cruises on back roads and the occasional trip to work.

Very nice, i love the color and the way those wheels look

Very nice. I agree on the wheels. Funny how so often other OEM wheels look better on cars they weren't intended for. Anybody else ever notice that? I love the color combo too. My first DSM had the tan leather and I've always really liked it. Every car I've had since has had the grey. I love your idea of making in perfect and keeping. Not too many people go that route.

Sweet car, I love those wheels. I just paid big to grab a set of those freshly powder coated. FYI 2G cenetercaps work perfect.....I hear ya on the OE route. I grabbed one with 62K a few years back and swore I would keep it all OE. Finally busted loose a few months back and am just about reaching 400 on a EvoIII16g which has been fun. Having such a solid clean foundation has made it a really nice experience so far. Ive been really careful about retaining every nut bolt clip screw and part to completely return it to the smooth quiet T25 one day if I so choose. The quiet fast spooling setup was a nice change at first (coming from a similar 400hp setup on my other 2G GSX) but I couldn't deal with the lack of power anymore. Maybe/hopefully it wont bother you depending on what your used to.

For down the road on one of the 2 GSX's , Ive been thinking about rebuilding a 14b and trying to squeeze every bit I can out of it on the quietest exhaust I can find that will flow satisfactory. Maybe use a muffler off an 05 EVO, for example.

Damn, that's a pretty nice find there. I love maroon. I think you'll be well off by taking the route you're planning. Get the suspension solid and everything back to normal and then do with it what you will.

Luckily the seller gave me four new 2G centercaps still in the package! Once I get the Direzza's mounted, I'll put the caps on.

I've put about 5-10 miles on it and the power is definitely low. For the period, the car was a performer (still is, in my book). My STI had a fully built bottom end and was making just over 400hp. I definitely won't be pushing the DSM to that level. Getting it up to speed on some backroads and working on just driving will do it fine. :)

I love a nice quiet exhaust performance car. Sleeper status!

Finding one unmolested is near impossible these days. When I saw this one, I couldn't pick the phone up quick enough.
