Okay so here goes. I'm new to DSMs all around. I bought a 98 Spyder automatic non turbo convertible and it's stuck in 1st and 2nd. When shifting into 2nd it lags and shifts real hard when it does shift. In park in idles at about 2000rpm but when you put it in gear it idles normally again. There's a sensor or switch below the motor mount that got pressed down and might have bad connection. Also the two computers have some wiring that someone done that the black wires and plain non coated ground wires are spliced together. My engine lights on but it's the battery connection code but nothing else. So my question is, is my trans stuck in limp mode and how do I fix that or am I looking at a rebuild and the switch and wiring just a different headache entirely?
Any insight helps.

What does your fluid look like and have you checked the level while running the car? If the level is proper and the fluid looks like $hit, you'll likely need a rebuild/replacement. If you had a crushed or disconnected circuit that could effect shifting, I'm pretty certain you'd have a code to accompany the problem. I've read about a common speed sensor issue specific to the automatics. It's supposed to be on the bell housing and if it acts up, it puts the transmission into a fail safe mode and wont let it shift past 2nd. I don't think this is your issue because you mentioned delayed/hard shifts. Thats not good.
