I just thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Josh and I just picked up a 95 Awd talon. It's a total project car but, it should be fun when it runs. I've been doing lots of research here on what to do and what not to do. I'll be starting off on basic maintenance before moving on to the mods.

Sweet, I hope you saved some money for repairs :)

It took me 18 months to get mine done but it's worth it. See, once you get the car "finished", that's when you can really started blowing money on expensive crap like coilovers and big turbos.

Nice to have you here Josh. You will find lots of help on the forum. People just like my buddy Vega's, will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
If you haven't yet, take the time to do a car profile so that we can all know what car we are messing with when you have a question, it makes it easy for us all.
Browse and search at your at your pace. You are going to find all of the answers and if you don't find them, then start a thread and ask!
Again, welcome to the BEST DSM Forum on the web!
Marty

PS...When you get "done", you can go blow money on stuff like CARBON FIBER HOODS.....Vega's has a new toy for his car, like we all do at times! :p

I've been searching and trying to soak up as much info as possible. This site is awesome. I've already bookmarked about a dozen threads.

I know it has a Evo 3 turbo and a quaife diff. It also has a front mount intercooler, some sort of aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, and what looks to be the free mods. I'm about 99% sure it needs a head gasket but before I just do it, IL be doing a compression check and leak down test.

See, you are already getting the hang of owning a DSM :)

The car will thank you in performance for using corn juice!!! :thumb:
Mine loves it.

Well bad and good news. Low compression on two cylinders. Now's a good time to add L19 head studs and a felpro composite gasket. The previous owner must have had a blast.

Yeah let's hope LOL. Luckily I live in south Haven so Kalamazoo and grand rapids aren't too far away. The head will be getting dropped off at forced engineering to get cleaned/checked. I thought about adding cams but, I'd like to do more research into cam selection first.
