Also,

Much respect, wiseman. As you can see the need for speed is paramount! This car is going to be a long distance commuter and soon. I dont know my way around them and dont want to overlook anything that could deprive me of a functioning vehicle and or freely achieved hp. Hope that's specific enough.

Hmm, if you just want cheap performance stuff then look up 1g dsm free mods. It's all the stuff people used to do back in the day when most dsms were stock. Other then that, just fix anything that is broken? :)

If you just got this car then maintenance is first. Belts, hoses etc. You need documented history or fix it yourself. I wouldn't even do a free mod right now. How much have you driven it? Are you saying it's gutted or you plan to gut it. We need more info. Does it run now?

Runs. Kid rebuilt the engine with his old man. 20thou K on rebuild. Its been parked and hadnt run for a year. She barks up nice. After taking it up to the gas station I discovered a fuel leak at the rail connection. She was idleing fast while the leak was present. I changed the o ring but havent run it since as shes up on jackstands getting fluids and filters done as well as any obvious stuff buttoned. Clutch needs to be adjusted me thinks. And yes, Ive ripped out the interior. I will proceed as instructed with routine maint and post again if any gremlins rear their ugly heads. 5 40 penz platinum synthetic engine. 75 90 lucas synthetic trans.

Shoot man, truck! Im waiting on the full service manual to come in the mail. Good point, Pauley. Ill get the cover off and have a look asap. Thanks.

Banjo fitting for the turbo oil feed appeared to be leaking...hard line was wet all the way down to the top of the turbo. Got a wrench on there to snug it up and the banjo bolt spun into two pieces! And yes I understand over torqueing. Luckily I was able to spin out the portion left in the head by hand. Makes me wonder about the rebuild...hopefully those boys had there torque wrench handy.

Hillarious. More problems creepin.... Wheel bearing, tie rod end, and Ive decided to get rid of the banjo on the head turbo feed and go from the filter. Does any one have a link to the thread where that process is gone over in detail? I'm having trouble finding it. Many thanks.

Aight. Supdates.

Went with a stock oil feed set up ish. Added a low pressure oil switch just in case. Next step, check and set base timing then take her in a big ol test run. Havent had the joy yet. Still gotta work out the fast idle. Yipee...

Also, Pauley,

Had a look at the timing belt and it looks brand new. Yes! Also, is the proper procedure for settting timing to start at the crank then head up and adjust at the cam sensor with your light on the cam sprockets?

Thanks, fellas. It was at 15 btdc!

Goter up to five and she smoothed right out. I also tested isc module and discovered its completely facked. I turned the idle screw in though and she idles pretty smooth at 1g which is an improvement. I'm outa money now but next on the list is rims, rubber, coilovers then all the rest... In that order. You experienced riders got any input on best rim/tire size combo? Im going for good circut track performance... Grip.

Test drive was great. I used to run a naturally aspirated 944, the laser smokes it hard.
Yee haw.

If the isc is smoked unplug it before it fries the drivers in the ecu. Tires are more important than wheels.

Yeah, trying to go used tire rim combo. Got an offer in on a set of 16" wheels with some good winter rubber for 5. Best deal Ive found lately, hopefully they havent sold yet. Maybe by the time I get my first paycheck Ill be able to buy some parts off some u old timers in the for sale section.

One more thing... After watching a video the proper method to adjust the clutch I flew at er. Cranked the rod on the master cylinder out as far as it would go (clockwise) and it didnt block off the valve and prevent my helper from being able to push the fork with his thumb. I'm still not getting a full disengagement, gotta double pump sometimes. The slave is new. Master cylinder? Just want to check before I go master money huntin

No satisfaction yet. Some clacky noise coming from the passenger side of the valve train. I suspect a sticking lash adjuster as the car had been sitting for a year witthout being turned over. Any thoughts? It doesnt happen at low rpm, starts around 2 grand and fades into the higher revs. I'm thinking about pulling off the valve cover and having a look. What should I be looking for specifically? Ill hunt around on here tonight and see what I can learn.

if i were you i would plan on replacing all the lash adjusters. if the car has been in a field for a year i would check the wiring to make sure no mice chewed on anything....
Oh wait, your in Canada, so i guess you need to make sure no beavers were chewing on yo shiit.

DID YOU KNOW?:
Beavers love to eat morning wood
