Hey guys, sorry for not updating things for such a long time. The project was put on hold due to some life changes. I got married, moved out, bought a house, etc. The build is still alive just down right now. I had to build a garage before I could put the car at my new home. So the car is still at my grandmother's house. Hope to get it soon and start back on my dream. I will post pics of everything soon. Thanks for the support guys. My goal is to have the car running by August. We will see.

My project may be coming to an end. I don't think I will have the money to run the car. Buying a house and getting married has cut into my car money a lot. It pains me to part the car out because it has never been run, I have all the new parts just sitting around. I am not sure what to do, but reality is starting to set in. I guess I have to see if someone would even want the shell with the rear end and everything. It is a bad feeling, but it is what it is. You guys have been the most supportive and dedicated car guys on the web. I'm sorry I could not finish this project. I'll have to make a decision soon. I'll keep you guys updated on what my final decision is. Thanks for all you support.

And thus is the ending to another build thread with promise, I think this thread should be a sticky in the builds section, so many with big dreams simply dream to big and bite off more than they can chew.

Just to give you a bit of perspective, I have had my Eclipse for almost 18 years, and it has been a continuing project for many of those years. I have really not done anything with it the last 3 years and I have everything here that I need to do to make it 100% again as well as move forward, but I have had zero time because of my business, family, construction of the new shop, and other priorities. That's how life goes; family, life, job, etc. It's just another portion of what responsibilities you need to take care of as a priority. You can keep the car and work on it down the road in the future, or you can cut the cord now and just move on. You may regret it, or you may be happy to finally have closure, even if it meant that you didn't complete it or get to enjoy it. That's just part of life and we fully understand.

Hopefully you choose to keep it and just put it in a nice warm cozy storage spot for a while and return to it when you can.

Good luck!

Agree 100% with twicks69...

I sold many projects in the past just to pick another one down the road and start from the beginning all over again. I’m very happy that I’ve stuck to the one I have and if I get tired, the car gets the cover until I can play with it again.

If you don’t need to sell it, you should keep it. You will only regret selling it in the future. I know I would.

I started tearing my car down Oct. 2008 and its now only ~85% of the way towards being a 9-second car/200 mph car.

I’ve gotten married, bought a house, moved 4 times, raced all over the country, and crewed for friends all over the country those 9 years. But in the winter on Sundays when I have free time I try to work on it between holidays, sports, friends, family, racing, and other bullshit. It’s my escape. It may be the same for you one day.

SUPERMAN UPDATE
Ok guys change in plans. I decided to finish the project #dsmforlife. Ok just finished the garage. Now I can concentrate on putting this thing together. I will post some pics this weekend. I do have a quick question? I need to buy some axles, can I get away with just putting the 650hp driveshaft shop front axles instead of the pricey 1000hp ones. Trying to save a buck, but also trying to not compromise the driveline. I figure since the front axles only get %50 of the power, I will be ok with the 650hp axles. Let me know what you think

Great man, good for you. I’m glad you are sticking with it.

I didn’t comb back through your thread but how much power you looking to make?

I would just call DSS and ask them what their axles can actually hold per what they are rated for and about past customer experiences with the 650HP axles.

Also, the 650 and 1000 HP advertised rating refers to the entire 4 wheel output, not per axle.

I'm glad to see you are sticking with it. I'e been told many times over the last 4 years to sell my car since I have had the motor pulled and it is just a rolling chassis right now. But soon I to will be starting on my project. Like you life just gets in the way house wife and 2 kids will do alot at holding you back. But eventually you will get back to where you can do it again, as you are showing now. Can' wait to see you get this thing running. I'm stoked

I am hoping to make as much power as possible on a gt42r and e98 combo. So I am thinking any where between 700-1000hp. If that rating is for all 4 wheels, I may have to get the 1000hp ones.

Thanks bro. I can't give up now, I'm going all the way to the end.

if it were me, I'd save your money and run stockers. The fronts hardly get any power at all on the launch because of weight transfer.

I'm just afraid of one of them snapping and sending me to the wall

I forget what all you have, but if you don't have a dogbox and a good tcase, you'll break them long before you break a front axle. And even then it's not likely unless you have a lot of tire. I know I don't make GT42 power, but I've broken literally every other part besides a front axle. The weight transfer and small tires really help them out. fwiw theres getting to be quite a few 9sec cars with all stock axles, and there are some 8 sec cars with stock front axles at least.

BUMP for running with the project still. Life happens. After years of me also having 100% of everything needed to get my car(s) going...I have yet to do so after them sitting for 3-5yrs+ LOL

SUPERMAN UPDATE

Ok guys, I will be posting some pictures this weekend of the progress. I just had a quick question. I was told that I should be fine running the stock front awd axles on the race car since the rear axle does most of the work; however, my parts store doesnt carry awd axles anymore. I saw some stuff on Ebay, but I am not sure about the quality. What do you guys use for front axles.
