Can ECM link control boost pressure with just an evo 8 or 9 solenoid or do I have to install electronic boost controller to go between settings for different ethanol contents. Heard several say that just buying a boost solenoid can control boost pressure adn my tuner says Ecm link only adjusts timing and cant accomodate boost at all? Confusing. Please chime in

Not being mean, but you need a new tuner. Just install a Mac 3 port controller cheap and works great. But yes you can control boost with Ecm link. Or you can buy the boost controller from ecm link site. But here is the Mac Controller.

The problem being is that i purchased turbosmart street electronic boost controller from Mopac (morons) its another story. The solenoid valve was mulfunctioning so had to be returned. I just want ability to compensate for ethanol content ie 20 psi 10%, 25psi being around e25 and 30psi for 50%ethanol, but yeah no the tuner said its not possible as i would have to do it myself between different parameters on the controller (they usually come with 2-3 settings which isnt a big deal) just heard some cars can do everything and no need to touch boost at all just pour it in and off you go. This flex fuel causing to much confusion for me. So with just a solenoid it can be programmed and will be doing it everything automatically as in ECM will take over completely?
PS thanks for solenoid spideydsm99;-)

Well the flex fuel sensor will allow for it to just do it by itself when randomly pouring different ethanol content in. But that’s the only way to get it to change boost from different ethanol automatically by its self. So to solve all issues. Get that boost controller and a gm flex fuel sensor(I can find you one on the web). But get that find a new tuner and never have to mess with anything again.

I do have a innovate flex kit which comes with sensor and a gauge. I just thought that ecm link cant change boost only timing when it comes down to ethanol content-I have been told that multiple times by my tuner. I guess would have to look for other tuner:-( its a hussle finding a good one though here in vancouver

Lol no FB but will search for him. Appreciate all the input fellows.

ECMlink can control booost with the stock solenoid if you put a restrictor in the line. This and what solenoids you should use as well as how to set up flex fuel is all very well documented on the ECM wiki. https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/

Actually, your tuner is correct. ECMLink CANNOT adjust boost based on the flex-fuel sensor.
More info can be found on the ECMLink forums:

^This. Ecmlink does accommodate boost control. Just not different levels of boost for different fuel. Gotta break out the laptop to adjust boost when you need to. It only automatically adjusts global fuel, and between the min/max octane DA tables with the FF sensor, deadtime also still needs to be done manually.

Alright so at the end i would still have to purchase a boost controller to have several settings and it looks final;-). Just been told by several people in dsm world that my tuner isnt right and ECM can do all of the above no problem. Thanks again everyone
