There is a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse gst for sale by private owner that I am looking at. It has a full 6 bolt swap, new clutch, dsm link v3, and a few other things. It’s for sale for a really good price but the only big problem it has is the turbo is burning and leaking oil and will need to be replaced. I was wondering what turbo I should buy if I did buy the car and if I bought another turbo what else do I have to buy with it? If it’s another stock t25 turbo it should go in and run fine? Or will I need to get it tuned? Would it be better if I bought a 14b turbo instead but If i did what else would I need to go with it for it to run good? Sorry if some of this doesn’t make sense this is the first time I’ve ever posted a thread on This site and anything will help:dsm:

The easiest answer would be to replace the turbo with another t-25 or possibly a t-28 as I think that is a direct bolt-on. A 14b would require a lot of different parts and that's something you can easily google to find out. You would not technically need to re-tune if you slapped on another t-25.

Thank you for the help!!

Would I need to retune if I chose a t28?

Are you sure its a t25 on there? Seems like the PO would have something else with those mods. Its a shame everybody hopped on the 6 bolt train a few years back because a 98-99 had the revised 7 bolt, IMO the best option.
Not sure with link, but you can normally swap a t28, 14b, 16g without tuning. You can run these on stock injectors and maf at stock boost levels but you're not even close to utilizing them to their potential.

No doubt Dawson, with that mod list, I'd be surprised if it's running a t-25. Verify what is on there, and go from there. If it is a stock turbo, you at least have a good base to start from with somehting bigger (T-28, 16G, etc...)
