I mentioned to him I'm only going for quick spooling 600 right now (his associate was the turbo guy, I was mainly talking to him with the owner listening) and see how the transmission and stuff holds up. I should be running 10s on that. That's my goal next season, then hopefully .5-1.0 less each season after. By the time I get to 800hp I guess I'm going to have to decide dogbox or auto.

Would much rather have a dogbox but 5-6k just in parts it gets crazy, then axles and etc. Already have a dss 3.5 driveshaft. Hate that it's only 2 parts tho and the 3rd is kept stock.

But anyway, yeah I told him my goal for now was only 600ish, it's Defff a v8 machine shop though primarily... I see what you mean tho it's like using a file on something. The rougher the file the faster it cuts. Damn If I only got a few passes out of this I'd be pissed Lol

I'm in the middle of taking the trans apart I got off a guy who said it was rebuilt/ built by dogbox performance like 10 years ago and never finished the car so it's got 0 miles on it, and so far looks like he wasn't lieing. The 5th gear is a fresh set out of a 1990 with 0 wear on the synchro or anything else, he said 1-2 was 91+ double synchro, but I'm assuming since 5th is 90 that 3-4 is 90 also and there's no way to machine double synchro for those, so that's out. I just got the 5/R shaft end nut and intermediate shaft end nut off.

What a pain they were. (Yes I'm building it on a 1980s littletikes table) right now, Waiting for my OTC bearing splitter/puller to come in and I'll be able to get 5th gear out without damaging anything. And waiting on my snap ring pliers to remove the viscous coupler.. Once I get the gear sets out I can hopefully send them out to TRE for his 300$ shot peen service. Would be nice to have added security.

So while I'm busy with the trans I can probably send the motor back with the honing recommendations from CP(carillo)

Fresh with double synchro 2nd-4th and welded diff(not pictured)... Should be fun with no power steering.. On well

Gotta pay to play =D

Oh, we carry those at AutoZone now as rental tools. I'm not sure if it's a nation wide roll out yet or just the southwest region but I carry a large and small size in stock.

Couple of red necks used it to remove the carier bearing on the drive shaft of their truck. Well, they used it and ratcheting trailer straps in the parking lot to get the bearing off of the drive shaft.

Yeah I went to autozone and they didn't have it here in Philadelphia, said it would take like 10 days to get here too...

But they had a dif brand splitter to rent (2 1/4 inch instead of 2 inch and still worked fine), and they didn't have the exact correct puller that I showed.. They had a different one But it was huge I think it must have been for the 4 inch splitter or something... But I used the OEM steering wheel puller that you autozone rents and that worked perfect (had 3 different size bolts for different threads and one of the sizes fit perfectly). Had to test like 3 different pullers they rent out Before i found one that would thread into the splitter LOL

It's not too bad without power steering. Tho i would recommend switching to a 4 spider diff, unless it's more of a drag-onlg car. If i weren't going auto, id see if @bastarddsm would make me one of his fancy center diffs :thumb:

Anytime. The only catch is they are expensive, and I feel bad charging so much for them, but I end up having close to 10hrs in one, 8+ of it is on expensive machines.

More often than not, you get what you pay for.

......

Gear sets removed, ready to be shipped to TMZ for deburred/detailing, shot peening, and REM superfinishing (maybe cryo treatment too. not sure)

I gotta see if my reverse idler gear is an early (90-91 is 25$) or late (92+ is 70$ LOL) gear And get a new one.. I believe it's an early one but not positive..

I know my 5th/reverse are 1990, think my first gear is 1990, 2nd-4th I'm pretty sure is 92+ since theyre double synchro
