Hello everyone. I just picked up my first 2nd gen (1998 GS-T). Will be asking a lot of questions about the technical side of things in the near future. I currently own an 01 GS, and have had two different first gen Lasers in the past. All non-turbo beaters.

Just saying hello and joining up what looked like the best forum for these cars. I also wanted to brag about the steal I got this car for. I paid $500 bucks for it running like absolute junk and no clutch. I have successfully fixed it without spending a dime! The slave was leaking from the copper washers. Got it tight and bled, have great clutch now. And the timing was off a couple teeth. It is a new belt that someone tried to install. Marks were off on both cams and the balance shaft. Got that dialed in and found it to be a smooth running car with great pull from the turbo!

500 for a clean title, bone stock car!

I'm embarrassed of it at the moment. Once I get it dialed in and smogged, I'll run it through a car wash at least. Its filthy, has stupid wheels, and is sitting way to low on a terrible lowering spring set that doesn't even fit this car on top of totally blown struts. New struts and springs are on the way along with several maintenance parts I'm addressing. I'll be swapping the wheels from my 01 GS on it before selling the 01. The paint will polish up nicely, but the front clip is pretty beat. Body is undamaged though! So once I put the time in to clean it up, restore the headlights, and have it stanced right on some decent wheels, I'll be sure to take some pics.

You're right, I will snap a few pics as it is and post them for a before and after comparison :thumb:

Alright, finally my day off and my parts have arrived during the week. I'll take those pics today. I'll be doing the following: 1 injector went bad on a test drive after fixing the timing issue. Ohmed them out and sure enough, inj#1 was really high resistance. I'll be putting it and a new filter in. Replacing the rad cap and two coolant hoses I found leaking through pressure test. The bad battery cable ends. Replacing the broken fuel door clip, the broken automatic antenna, and some q-bond on the splits in the front bumper. Tack-welding some loose exhaust shields back into place. Replacing all four struts, mounts, and better lowering springs. This will raise the car to a more normal 2" drop. The springs currently on it let it rest on the strut body. Of course an alignment as best as I can get it. If there's time, oil pan r&r and turbo lines due to leakage and an oil change/filter of course. Then comes interior and body beautification. However, a test drive after the suspension work will tell me if there's anything else to address. I shit you not, the springs really are not for this car. They are supper small diameter skunk2 ones that constantly rub, pop, bang, crunch, etc. No way to hear anything other than that. They have wiped out the tires with terrible washboarding. But that's okay, the good rims and tires from my 01 will be going on it soon. Luckily the previous owner threw new plugs and wires at the car in an attempt to fix the misfires. So that is already done. I also plan to clean the throttle body, run a fuel system treatment in the tank, and do an FI service through the intake. (Its a decarbing process for the intake runners and valves)

I also have a 1g bov on the way and removed the waste gate solenoid restriction. I will be looking forward to a test drive after all this!

Here’s are few pics. My phone is damaged and take bad pics. Hard to even get these
