Bare with me, probably a newbie question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I've always drag raced my N/A '89 Camaro, simple. Now I'll be racing Ant's '99 GST. When playing with it around town, we both made sure to wait for it to shift into 2nd gear before doing hard boosting. Now, we'll be taking it to a drag strip in a week (with luck) and I know how it's done on the track, but that's not how we've been doing it. Am I just being chicken for no reason? Or is it really ok to stage a modified turbo Eclipse with an automatic transmission in 1st? I know absolutely for sure to stay out of 4th for heavy boost. We did rebuild the trans with stage 2 Raybestus clutch packs and steels with an added Translab shift kit, so it's not stock but I'm not sure what amount of horsepower it'll hold. I'll list all the mods to the engine if anyone needs me to, otherwise it's all listed on the profile. And you can go ahead and call me chicken btw, I don't mind. If you do, I'm bringing my broken auto trans to your house and it can make nightmares for both of us LOL. It's been our nightmare for two out of the three years we've owned the car, so, yea, I'm a little hesitant to brutalize the transmission. :)
