So I'm building my car right now and the block will be able to handle 600+ HP but the trans will never be able to handle that without dumping $3-4K into the trans. do auto DSMs suck to drive around or could they be just as fun by adding a shift box/kit? I'm looking at 4-425hp if I stay 5-spd and 5-600 if I go auto. thoughts?

edit-This isn't a daily driver, more of a street/strip/weekend/summer warrior

as far as hp difference I couldn't tell you. I can tell you that the maiden voyage on my car on wastegate pressure and the auto setup I went [email protected] mph. and that's with a soft launch. car should run 10.60-10.70s on wastegate. doing some of the conversions for et to hp I estimated that far made about 475-500hp through the auto.
I need to get my car fixed and get to the track....in search of the elusive 10.99999999 LOL
Thanks for the reply, my WG psi is 32, but I need to back that down a little bit and use the boost controller.

no problem man. im ready to get my big pump in and get the car turned up to about 40psi LOL

Autos can be fun but you have to build the motor the right way. Its not like building a manual, with an auto all the parts need to really work together well and big turbos are not the answer. If you build an auto with a big turbo that has a lot of lag you will be disappointed unless its a dedicated race car. If you decide to go auto I would suggest not building a top end car and working more on the low end. Getting them out of the hole and the 60ft is where they really shine. Everyone is the first to talk bad on autos but no one is the first to line up next to one!
