What turbo would be better for auto X/street on a 2.3 stroker. I know they both flow around 58 lb/min but what would the difference be spool wise? 7 blade HX35 Twinscroll and FP Green, also would a 2.3 choke the 68hta?

Vegas is probably alluding to forum no-no which is bench racing. Also this is a very common question and you will likely be directed right back into searching the forum.

This happens to be a topic I am interested in as I am building a 2.3 as well. I am trying to decide between a hx-35 with a DSM housing and an fp with DSM housing. I don't know how well versed you are in turbos and such but I will try to give you some other factors to chew on before others chime in.

Spool between t/s and undivided can be as high as 500rpm (looking from forums posts). But you pay quite a bit in cost and complexity for it (you need an exhaust housing, dual wastegates, custom piping). This all adds up in time and cost. You can see others that have done it on this forum and to me it seems like it's not worth it for the spool. Btw and hx35 undivided spools around 3500-3800 (again looking at numbers from others).

What is your budget?
What have you done for supporting mods?

I think a lot of people have been successful with a big16g for autox but with your larger displacement you might be able to get away with more. Still, autox as far as I know isn't as concerned with power as it is with smooth power delivery and handling. You might be better served in putting your money into some feal coilovers.

I think goodbye is a user on here who runs an FP Green and Vegas just tagged him so he'd see this and maybe respond.

I've had a couple FP Green setups and IMO it's too laggy for auto X on a 2.0, but not sure how'd it'd react on a 2.3. As for street driving, I love it I just wouldn't use it if I'm trying to post a time on autox. For usable power quick power to get through low speed tight turns a 16g is damn hard to beat.

To answer the OPs question will turn into a matter of semantics, because there are guys on here that are against Holsets, and guys that swear by them.

Short answer - both will do what you want, both will be relatively responsive on a 2.3 setup but converting to a TS hx35 will cost significantly more then the FP green will assuming you have a stock setup now and haven't already purchased any of the parts, I believe that the holset will gain you slightly more in the department of power/spool but I'm not sure the cost is worth the swap.

If you are going to autoX it I'd just get a v268hta and be done with it, that's the shortest route to a good flowing turbo that will bolt right in without lots of unnecessary parts, AND you could just tell people that aren't any wiser it's a 16g LOL

I happen to be a big fan of FP and have had their turbos from the E316G all the way up to the FP3575, so I'm a bit biased. But I really like my Green/2.4 combo now although I did have the E316G with the 2.4 as well and that would be my setup if I autocrossed all the time. Spool was instantaneous with no lag, it just ran out a bit up top and I stepped up to the Green in it's place. Plus I wasn't a fan of the J-pipe arrangement anymore(I was going for stockish appearance for a year).

What kind of boost are you seeing at what rpm on the green?

I haven't had it on the dyno with this combination yet, so it's all butt dyno at this point, but I'd say full boost by 3500 even self-tuned. There's definitely improvements left on the table with proper tuning, I also have my whole setup optimized for quick spool and torque under the curve. I was running 17psi on 93 pump before I put it away for the winter.

fp green, love there turbos!

but id imagine either way you cant really go wrong.

I autocross with a 7-blade HX-35 in the .55A/R DSM housing on a 2.0l. It is fun but far to laggy to be competitive. I don't get full boost until 4200 RPM it does have 12psi at 3200 RPM but doesn't come alive and get over 30psi until 4000 RPM. I ran this same turbo on a 2.3l previously and it hit full spool at 4050 RPM which is still way too late for competitive autocross.

I don't have any experience with a Green but from what I have seen from other people I would expect it to spool a bit faster, probably still to slow for autocross. I think a Big 16G or Evo3 16G is the best fit for autocross but I'm not willing to give up my street fun.

Other turbos that I have been thinking about are the PTE 5585 ball bearing or buying an older FP ball bearing 3052 in the DSM housing. I feel that either of those would spool faster then the HX without giving up all the street car fun.
