Hello guys!
My name is Felippe Almeida. I'm from Criciuma, Santa Catarina, south of Brazil.
Since 2007 my father has DSM's. The first was a '94 GST red, and the second was a '93 GS bought with 19.000 miles. Since then always I wanted to buy one.
In 2014 I found a 1GA in a city 350 miles away. Was a '91 GST in quartz gray color, with just 45,000 miles and two previous owners.
I bought the car for R$16,000, about $5000.
The car was in top condition. The interior was perfect. The exterior had some details, but everything easy to fix. The engine needed some care.
I drove the car for a few months until the engine broke because of balancer shafts. It was 3 months to rebuild it. Already we take the opportunity to review the gearbox, clutch, turbo, ECU and multiple sensors.
Over the next few months I've been repairing other things like the steering box, brakes and suspension.
After that, I started with the upgrades. I changed the steering wheel for a Lotse Dakar. Lotse is a great Brazilian brand in the segment of aftermarket steering wheels.
The second step was the wheels. I found in Mercado Livre, a site similar to eBay, a set of Enkei RS7 17x7 +42 wheelset with Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires. In three long days the wheels arrived and were already assembled in the car!
The car was still at its original height and I did not like the appearance with the wheels installed. So I sent the dampers to a friend and he worked them to make them lower. It improved a lot, because the originals were bad.
I also installed a stainless steel muffler much similar to the original.
In the next post I'll tell you more about the current state of the car!
Thanks!!
