Hello guys!
My name is Felippe Almeida. I'm from Criciuma, Santa Catarina, south of Brazil.

Since 2007 my father has DSM's. The first was a '94 GST red, and the second was a '93 GS bought with 19.000 miles. Since then always I wanted to buy one.

In 2014 I found a 1GA in a city 350 miles away. Was a '91 GST in quartz gray color, with just 45,000 miles and two previous owners.

I bought the car for R$16,000, about $5000.

The car was in top condition. The interior was perfect. The exterior had some details, but everything easy to fix. The engine needed some care.

I drove the car for a few months until the engine broke because of balancer shafts. It was 3 months to rebuild it. Already we take the opportunity to review the gearbox, clutch, turbo, ECU and multiple sensors.

Over the next few months I've been repairing other things like the steering box, brakes and suspension.

After that, I started with the upgrades. I changed the steering wheel for a Lotse Dakar. Lotse is a great Brazilian brand in the segment of aftermarket steering wheels.

The second step was the wheels. I found in Mercado Livre, a site similar to eBay, a set of Enkei RS7 17x7 +42 wheelset with Dunlop Direzza DZ101 tires. In three long days the wheels arrived and were already assembled in the car!

The car was still at its original height and I did not like the appearance with the wheels installed. So I sent the dampers to a friend and he worked them to make them lower. It improved a lot, because the originals were bad.

I also installed a stainless steel muffler much similar to the original.

In the next post I'll tell you more about the current state of the car!

Thanks!!

Super clean. Love it.

A few months later, I found a rare (in Brazil) set of Evo III wheels for sale. They were in a rally car. I traveled five hours to bring them!

In the same week I sold the RS7's. Bought a set of Bridgestone Turanza ER33 215/50/17 and the same day I went up the Rio do Rastro Mountain. Same as driver Rhys Millen made a video a few years ago.

A friend made a full paint detailing and removed the small dents around the car. He changed completely. It looks like a new car!

I took the opportunity to refurbish the speakers, wash all the interior plastics and to fix the electrical antenna.

I also removed the rear window wiper. The rear looks much better without it.

Buy a pair of strut bars on eBay for $25. I paid another $75 for freight to Brazil, plus another $35 brazilian tax...

In the last week ai upgraded my front brakes. Install a set of Lancer Sportback Ralliart. Is the same of Outlander. Two pot calipers and 294mm disc brake. I install the Ralliart brake line too. I'm ordering a RRE adapter brake lines.

Because my car has ABS, I had to make some adjustments to the disc. It took two holes for the ABS sensor screws and machining the back of the disk so as not to scrape on the magnetic sensor of the ABS. It was also necessary to cut the disc cover.

In addition, for ABS to work properly, the magnetic sensor had to be moved 5mm away. I used a small washer and replaced the screw. I forgot to take photos ...

Wow, I never thought I would be seeing clean DSM's come out of Brazil! I have been visiting Brazil for about 5 years, for business. However, I am mostly trapped in the busy city area. I fly into São Paulo/Guarulhos. I think the nearest area to you I have visited is Porto Allegre.

I hope you continue to post updates to this build. It looks like a super clean Eclipse so far. I'll raise a Caipirinha to that!

Very clean 1G's! Thanks for sharing and keep up the progress!
Thanks!!!

Thanks!! The 1g DSMs are disappearing from Brazil. We have put together the owners in a WhatsApp group to help keep the cars in order. The 2g there are many, and some very beautiful!

Yes, Porto Alegre is close to where I live. Approximately 250 miles. São Paulo is 1 hour by plane.

Capirinha is the best Brazilian drink! Come here to tour! Santa Catarina is very beautiful! The best beaches are here!

Very nice car, my man. Do you have plans to add more modificatipons?
Thanks!! I want to improve the suspension. The engine intend to keep original.

Some updates:

I brought some US parts, purchased from JNZ. Shifter bushings, pedal covers and door strikers.

I changed the shifter bushings and now it looks like a new car!
