how is your paint holding up on the underside of your hood without the heat shield?

on my 16g setup I ran the fp manifold with a heat blanket, no ill effects from the heat on that setup.
My hx40 setup is still under construction, I will be running a JMFab manifold with no exhaust wrap. I will keep you updated on that. Not too concerned on the underside of the hood regardless, I would hope it wouldn't crack the paint on the top.

A few updates;
My motor is back from the machine shop and ready for assembly. Engine bay is completely painted. AWD swap is the only thing holding me back, which I am having my good friend Jeremiah at J&J Automotive do it for me. A full reconstruction of the drivetrain and fuel system is underway from Jeremiah as I finish up under the hood with the motor, transmission, and turbo install. Wire tuck will be done as well, I am relocating the fuse box to the cabin. A/C is deleted completely, P/S I am exploring options to tuck custom lines into the shock towers, or just do the electronic mr2 power steering swap. Only thing left on my list is buying another exhaust and some new front axles. Car will be tuned by Performance Factory, which is now the tuning division of 3sx Performance of Concord, NC. They have held world records with the Dodge Stealth/Mitsubishi 3000gt and previously tuned my car when it was FWD.

Few updates if anyone still cares LOL ; all new dss stage 2 axles. Motor is built. Awd tubular rear subframe acquired. Badass catchcan acquired. The manifold that Dave Ruby went 9s on has been acquired. Custom O2 housing and downpipe is being created. Awd swap and tune coming soon

That whole back end looks great in there all buttoned up.

Cant imagine attempting all of this, and not doing every last bit of it myself. Trying to find anyone to depend on must be rough. At least you stayed with it and found someone. Looks great. Good luck with it.

Big update

My last mechanic took the awd parts off the donor, put my bare motor in the car and came to a halt there basically. I ended up at my tuners doorstep, 3sx/Performance Factory of Concord, NC. Many of you may be familiar with their work on the 3000gt/stealth platform, they held world records on that platform. They have been completely restoring my car to how it was before years of neglect and sitting. We have gone through almost every piece of the car at this point in a matter of weeks after 1-2 months waiting for my turn in line to be on a lift. It is currently awd. Found out my tubular rear end does not have sway bar provisions. They are working to rebuild my driveshaft (lots of fun finding a rebuild kit btw), and get the motor back in and wired up. After that comes the tune. Here are some pictures of it as it sits.

Yeah at this point I don't mind paying to have it done, I let it get too out of hand so they are doing a good job restoring the car by powdercoating suspension parts, sandblasting my rusty rotors, i'm having them replace all wheel bearings etc now as well so we shouldn't have any problems once we get on the dyno. It has been down for almost 5 years, glad It's finally getting done. Thank you
