a 97 gst when got the car it ran just fine a little sluggish it had a few problem the exhaust mani gasket as leaking an turbo gasket replaced the gaskets while was at it got bigger turbo put it all in hooked everything back up started the car ran just like before it sat aa couple days went back out to it started right up an turned right off after three sec like i turned the key off but didnt it starts up evey time the same an right back off it will rev up right when you start it for three sec then shut off an cant figure out what could be wrong if you could help it would be awesome

what all have you tried checking so far? good thing to do i think would be to grab the chiltons and a multimeter and start checking your isc and tps and the rest of your sensors. if shes a little sluggish then i would check for boost leaks. have you checked for any codes that it might be throwing?
 
we have replaced the ecu mpi relay crank shaft positioning scener cam shaft positioning scener. its not sluggish at all when we start the car it starts just fine idle just fine an rev just fine but what ever you do when you start it it stays running for about 5 sec then just shuts off like you turned the key off
 
My car did the same thing. The motor I put in had stock injectors. Would start and die start die same 5 secs. I put the 550 injectors and fpr and started right up cel went off and has been running. My car has 2g maf.
 
there already bigger injecters in the car we havent changed anything about car besides the turbo an its doing this
 
will you post what you find out from the shop?

I know a guy who just told me the exact same thing on his 99 with a 96 motor.
 
i had this problem before. check the alternator belt, make sure it is tight. if not dont panic it is an easy fix. if the belt is tight then check the alternator out. the function of the alternator is to multiply your batterys voltage x10 the battery alone cant keep your car running because the eclipse uses too much energy. thats why it needs an alternator. autozone can check your alternator for you. if you dont wanna take it to autozone and live in denver let me know. i have a tool that will let us know:thumb:
 
my 97 gst doing the same thing it will turn on but then shut off so far i checked all the pipes from the fmic and everything is good my timing set perfect i actually think maybe camshaft sensor i have an aftermarket one not the OE maybe thats the problem
? the mods i have its only a 16 g turbo the head was done and the bottom end its stock i cant find the problem annyone can help ?
 
Just a thought but hope it'll help but have you replaced the fuel filter...been working on mine since I just got it and the one I took out looked like it had never been changed..helped my idle problem a little bit since I've gotten fuel pressure down.
