I had a few exhaust leaks at the turbo so i went ahead and ordered a few gaskets from Extreme PSI one is the new 6 ply turbo manifold to turbo gasket https://www.extremepsi.com/store/product.php?productid=29669&cat=0&page=1
I know it says:
**PLEASE NOTE: OUR 7CM HOUSING GASKETS WILL ONLY FIT MHI 7CM TURBINE HOUSINGS! WE'VE HAD ISSUES WITH KNOCKOFF TURBOCHARGERS NOT ALIGNING CORRECTLY DUE TO CASTING MISALIGNMENT**

But i figured a FP Red exhaust housing would not fall into the"KNOCKOFF" category, I guess you shouldn't assume. First 4 pics are of the gasket on the exhaust housing, the last is the gasket on the manifold. It amazes me that there is that much of a difference in fitment between the manifold and the exhaust housing.
As you can see with just 2 bolts in the gasket is way off and would be impossible to get the other 2 in without modifying or destroying the gasket. But the gasket lines up perfect on the manifold.
Now gotta call extreme on Monday and order one that will fit properly, i know they cant test all combinations but when making a new product I think they should do testing on some of the more popular setups as this will help customers make a better decision on whether to buy a certain product or not.
But the biggest plus for this would be too eliminate even more downtime for the customers car "like we need more of that" :D . Another transaction on the CCard etc etc..

I have flipped it every which way, makes no difference some ways are worse then what you see here.

I JUST told my buddy about this a couple weeks ago! I had a blown J-pipe gasket.
Upon servicing that I'm pretty sure my Extreme PSI 6-ply turbo to manifold gasket is leaking because I noticed soot build up and I can't build boost past ~6-7 psi.. Glad I'm not crazy / the only one.

Stick with the oem crush 2 ply gaskets, they work much better and never had 1 leak! If they are then skim your surfaces as they are clearly not 100% level!

As for FP castings of course they wont match because they are based off a knockoff to their design and specs and not from a genuine housing, manifolds are better because its based off the oem unit,

Even then if these gaskets are copied from an oem gasket then an oem gasket should not fit but if it does then it makes me think the gaskets are not worth it and made very badly, i mean you take the center and datum it from there its not hard, it means both oem and these should be ok to use if the oem works and these mocked from an oem?

Everything appears to be flat enough i got my straight edge out and a 0.0025 in feeler gauge tried to slide it under the straight edge and it wouldn't go under.

You know i never thought FP would make their exhaust housing based off a knock off turbo instead of a true MHI.. :nono: come on FP  . Guess thats why the gasket fits so well on the manifold.

This was my next thought I'm sure Extreme didn't reinvent the wheel and just copied the OEM, Which like you said if true the OEM isn't going to fit either. Guess well see as I"m going to with a 2 ply gasket. I think all that needs to be done make the bolt holes slightly larger so you can adjust/center it better, cant remember if the OEM has slightly bigger holes or not??

BTW: whats a DATUM

Can someone please explain the benefit of a 6 ply gasket? It seems like an open door for leaks over a solid ss gasket or the OEM crush style.

I was thinking this would be a better alternative to the OEM and the solid stainless. Kinda of best of both worlds little thicker than the OEM but not as rigid and better sealing than the solid SS gasket, while still being able to be crushed (looking at the gasket now i think this maybe too thick to crush).

Most of the time I don't use a gasket. I make sure both surfaces are perfectly flat and use copper spray.

Running high boost with bolt on turbos kept blowing gaskets for me due to the high backpressure you get with bolt on turbos. I never had any issues after I went with no gasket.

I thought FP housings were manufactured for / provided to FP by MHI?

From my knowledge / research, the main benefit is they're reusable. Extreme PSI's design however, in my opinion, is wrong. Not sure what they were trying to do there... WTF

The ring in the middle holds all the layers together - There should be rings / rivets towards the edge of the gasket like multi-layer head to manifold exhaust gaskets.
That way it's impossible for leaks, possible to trim if necessary,

You don't want the single layer SS gasket, I ate through 4 of them, they chip off and break into fragments.. and if any of those fragments just so happen to make it into the turbo... well you can imagine. That stamped steel o-ring prevents anything from blowing out, or potentially getting in, its a common design on any of the newer vehicles, keep the layer solid around the edge of the hole itself and it'll help to prevent any leaks.. As to the benefits of 6 ply, you've got me. I have no idea. I still have issues with mine leaking but that is way more to do with the mounting surface of my FP manifold being warped than it is the gaskets fault.

If it were truly an MHI unit do you really think the FP symbol would of been cast into it?

UPDATE:
Was looking around and i found an old OEM gasket.I'll let the pictures do the talking but it in short it looks like we just have a poorly made product or maybe I just got a bad one who knows. Either way looks like im going with stock gasket or maybe try what donniekak said. Good news at least I know the OEM gasket will fit

Although im not running high boost compared to some I'm more like 18-20 psi, Do you have any brand you prefer and how many coats do you apply?

I had the same issue on my FP green. I tried the 6 ply gasket and there regular 7cm gasket from extremepsi. The 6 ply wouldn't fit at all and the regular 7cm gasket barely squeezed by. So I tried another gasket from MAP performance and that one fits perfect. Get the one from MAP and you wont have any issues.

I've had the same issues with the holes not lining up on my Extremepsi gasket when used on my oem genuine Evo3 turbo OR my old-school FPGreen. Although I still consider them to be super cool about things usually, they weren't too helpful about this particular issue. I ended using a dremel with a small grinding bit to open up and oval out the bolt holes to make the gasket work. As long as the firing ring still lines up properly with the manifold and the turbo and you don't damage the firing ring with the dremel, the gasket should work fine. I've modified and used two of the Extreme gaskets and they work fine and don't leak, but they are a pain in rear to mod though. I'm not going out of my way to recommend these gaskets by any means, but I just wanted to share that the gaskets still work fine when they are modified.

I know its a minor thing and I was going to modify the gasket the way you did but I decided to just sent it back and get a OEM 7cm from JNZ..
