Hello everyone,

I've been on and off in the dsm game and I just recently got it my 1G smogged and now I'm feeling the urge to add a little more power. Running the stock 14b and a turbo back apex exhaust at the moment but I've come across some dsm goodies locally and thought now would be a good time to throw some mods on it. Ideally I want an e316g down the road, but for now I am just looking to up the boost on the stock turbo, run 660 injectors, have a fp intake with a 2g maf on the way. Do I need to run a wideband? Had a friend running a big 16g and he wasn't running one so just thought I would get some fellow dsmers input on the matter. Also I hear about crushing bovs is this something I should do if im just trying to get a little more out of my 14b? Should I just go aftermarket bov? Thanks in advance.

Also any other sugguestions for mods to help support a my goals of having a fun 14b dd 1G would be greatly appreciated.

A bigger fuel pump with an afpr would be a good addition. Also like canes said you should get some sort of engine management like ecm link.
You can run the car without a wideband but you will have no idea if you are running lean.

The car will run a bit rich with the 660cc injectors, you could get away with 550cc injectors and a 2g maf without any tuning software most likely. I dont think the 14b will flow enough to cause your bov to leak, if it does then crush it untill it almost touches the nipple.

A bit rich? No. That's 50% more fuel. It won't run at all.
Op if you want larger injectors you need engine management. There is no other way.

The 2g MAF on a 1g car, causes the mix to go lean. 550s with a 2g MAF cancel each other out and make it "okay". It's not the right way but people have been doing it for over a decade. You still should invest in a good tuning solution.

If your on a budget then some evo 560cc injectors and an evo mad with a rewired evo pump should be good for some decent power. A wideband is definitely needed to monitor your engine afr. A tuning solution is also recommended to make the most out of these parts. Maybe an safc for now if u cannot afford ecmlink.

Unless you can honestly say you will never upgrade your turbo or do any major mods, just start with the ecmlink. 500$ out of the gate will save you a lot of headache down the road messing with afprs, translators, and all of those other band-aids.

A wideband is a tuning tool. Depending on how well you want your vehicle to run, I would get one. You technically don't need one where you are at now, but if you would like to progress, it is recommended. As far as the 1g BOV being crushed, I've tested three of mine laying around. When uncrushed, they all seemed to hold well until 17 psi where they slightly cracked open. If you are running more than 17 psi, only crush it until it holds the amount of pressure you will be running. If crushed too much, it won't release/recirculate air in low boost situations.
