I was told this turbo is a 20g but its hard to believe since I really don't know the guy. I'm no expert but it looks like a 60/1 Chinese turbo matched with a precision outside. Doesn't have much shaft play but I'm changing my set up a little bit since it appears this would bolt up to my FP mani and looks like oil supply comes from the head. Technology is not my friend so pictures will be coming shortly.

Looking around for a set of numbers or serials and can't find anything. Figured I would try to find the answer here before driving into Miami traffic to get to a turbo shop. Any help is very appreciated.

It may be an actual PTE Turbo. Here are some pictures of a journal bearing PTE-5031E (they no longer make it) that I bought back in 2008. It looks very similar to that one with the exception of not being water cooled and having a different compressor backing plate.

Good find my man helps a bunch. Word from my local guy was ''wow you got lucky here, not only does this look like a old school PTE but it all looks legit''. Once I get more info on it from them I will spread the love!

Specific model number will be engraved in the compressor outlet. I can see it a little in the 4th pic you posted but can't make out any of the numbers.

The existence of coolant ports which accept our stock water lines almost 100% confirms this turbo is ball bearing as well. The journal bearing Garrett center housings which have coolant ports use a 1/4" NPT thread so the stock coolant lines will not work while the ball bearing CHRA's have 14mm x 1.5 thread, the same as our stock banjo bolts. Another giveaway would be if the oil feed inlet offsets the flange a bit where the journal bearing oil feed hole is directly in the center of the flange.

So if I were throwing a model number out there....I'm going to say this is a Precision SCM5031RE. You'll need a wastegate actuator- these don't exist anywhere outside of Precision unless you're doing a fair amount of custom fabrication.

Thanks for the input Justin. Got word back it's a 56mm wheel in the front. They offered a billet wheel for a good price so I went ahead and did it. I plan on going with a external set up so I wastegate door is welded shut. Any idea how much power those units put out?

My journal bearing made 440 awhp on a dyno pack dyno on my GSX and then 430 on my friends awd talon when I sold it.

For me it was 1200cc and e85. I don't remember what size on Sam's car but smaller and 91pump and methanol injection.

Got yeah thanks for the info. I'm going with 1600s and e85 as well. Curious to see the difference in hp between a billet wheel and my motor set up vs what you guys made. One last question did you have a similar setup to my profile ?

Yeah, pretty similar, I was on an extruded honed 2g intake.

Who is "they" and how are they replacing the wheel? Do "they" have the ability to balance a ball bearing CHRA?

Mike's Turbo in Miami Florida. Couldn't tell you what CHRA stands for, but when I spoke to him in person earlier today he offered the rebuild, balance, and the upgraded billet wheel for 400$.

Looks legit. Just wanted to make sure you weren't sending it to Turbolab or something ridiculous.

They're either unaware this is a ball bearing turbo, or ripping you off...because this unit cannot be "rebuilt"- Garrett doesn't sell parts for it. They can press it apart and change the sealing rings, but that's all that can be done while using Genuine parts. There may be offshore parts available, but installing those would essentially make your turbo as reliable as a Chinese knockoff at that point.

The T04E50 compressor (448048-0004) which your turbo has is 53.8/76mm so wherever they came up with it being a 56mm turbo is incorrect unless they pulled those numbers out of the air as well or they're machining your cover.

I'm suppose to pick up the turbo Friday I will double check to see what they did before I hand them any money. From what I was told on the phone the turbo cartridge was sent out then got back to them to be balanced and reassemble with new seals and the billet wheel. If they don't have paper work or part numbers I'm not giving them a penny.

Thank you Justin.
