I cant wait to get the dogbox in the car, there is two options a diff or a spool. Im assuming for street use I want the diff? Does the spool lock the drivetrain 50/50? Im guessing the spool is stronger?
Actually a welded diff/spool is capable of a 100/0 and 0/100 torque split. You can have zero traction with the front tires and 100% of the torque goes to the rear, and vice versa.

I can make the car essentially rwd?
. You would need to remove the front axles and install the inner cups into the trans. You can also make it fwd by removing the transfer case. This is with a welded diff of course.

I will say this though... i welded my center diff and its deff not for an everyday street car. It binds up in tight turns/parking lots. You get a lot of looks when the tires are chirping and hopping haha

ahh, my car sits in a garage most of the time. How is it on the road? Im assuming at slow speeds its at it worse yes?

Once your over 10 mph you dont notice it anymore. But from a stop/slow roll wheel turned you feel like your brakes are sticking on. I try not to lock the steering wheel in any direction. Make a lot of 5 point turns haha

Ahh so your cams are a little meaner then my hks272s....

I'm debating when I build my head do I put my hks272s in, Or my bc280s

Prob start out with the 272s, sell the bc280s.. And get either kelford 280(ish)s or s3's..

Right now I'm focusing on ripping apart my brand new trans to get the gearsets shot peened...

First time opening up a trans. Should be interesting..

I purchased a 1990 awd transmission from a local junker, im going to attempt to do a rebuild myself, see how it goes......Just for the hell of it of course. My only worry is, where in the hell am I going to get parts?

Something similar happens when I'm tight turning my 2002 Dakota in 4wd, if I take my foot off the gas on a full u turn it acts somebody slams on the brakes and I hit the gas it the wheels skip like crazy LOL but you get sorta used to it when youre expecting it to happen

The trans I was just talking about has a welded center also, so I'll be in the club soon enough LOL

Mines a 90 too but with 92 gearset which is good cause it has double synchro and 90 sets can't get them machined into them. But not good because 90 sets are the strongest...

Always gotta give a little to take a little I guess..

That's why I want to get them shot peened ..

Amsrn13 remeber to use a 90 trans you need the shifter cables to match.

Geeb it acts exactly like a truck (my trucks the same ). Basically you convert it to 4wd instead of awd. No more slipping. Just full time traction haha

Exactly I didn't mean it was odd or anything LOL just the way it is

Amsrn13 that's true.. I have a spare set of 90 cables with brand new bronze bushings I posted them In the classified section the other day... if you need we can work out a deaI.

I had my 90 gear assembly gears shot peened and the details while at tre. Should hold up for a while on my new set up.

Getting parts for your trans is a bit difficult I came to realize. Not too much inventory out there. I picked out on a recent trip to Las Vegas and got a 90 trans for 200 bucks. Just need to get the output shaft changed out for a 23 spline one.

You can make a 90 trans work with the 91+ cables. U just need to have the correct mounting shift assembly.
