I've searched and searched and can't really find an answer to my issue.

I am in the process of switching from a talon to eclipse bumper (2Gb) and have it mounted but it seems stressed when I install all of the wheel well liner to bumper plastic clips. If I take them out it "destresses" but when it is sitting freely in the wheel well the distance between where the bumper's holes are and the wheel well liner holes is about 1-2". Hence when I force it to line up the bumper becomes stressed and the lower lip bends weird.

Talon vs Eclipse front bumpers (2Gb) - is there difference between:
- the wheel well liners?
- the main bumper support?
- the Styrofoam bumper crash absorption dealie? (I'm pretty sure this is a yes)
- the upper rad support to bumper bracket? (Pretty sure a no but I'll ask it anyways)

It is a brand new bumper from a parts store so not a "real" OEM bumper.... I'm hoping that its not some shiiity bumper that was just made shiitly.

When I got some extra wheel wells off a regular 1g eclipse for my gsx they were not dead on with the clips. I believe the 1g gsx bumper is lower.

Anyways I know u have a 2g but may experience some similar issues. @gofer has both an eclipse and talon bumber. Maybe he can chime in.

I'm not sure what you're searching but reading your description, you're switching from a 2gb Talon to a 2gb Eclipse bumper and wanting to know if there are any differences?

I literally Googled searched exactly that and the very first thread that popped up is from 2004 and answers the question with photos, the second one down is your post. :D

In a nutshell, the 2ga Eclipse/Talon and 2gb Talon headlights don't fit a 2gb Eclipse bumper. If you want to run that 2gb Eclipse bumper you need 2gb Eclipse headlights too.

I have the proper eclipse 2Gb headlights already...there are not even installed yet as I am having issue with the fitement of the bumper to the car.

My question is in regards to the fitment of the eclipse bumper cover to the main talon bumper and also the wheel well liner.

I read many an article including the one you referenced and all the do is talk about headlights.

...because that's the only difference between the two are the openings for the headlights, at least as far as fitment goes.

I had a 2gb Talon and 2gb Eclipse bumper that I would switch between every few months and all the mounting points are in the same location, etc.

Main bumper support --- same
Crash beam --- same
Middle bumper bracket --- same
Wheel well liners --- same

The non-OE 2gb Eclipse bumpers that cost $40-$100 look warped when installed because they don't line up perfectly so you've got to "massage" them, maybe take a picture of what you're seeing? Odds are it's a combination of you not trimming enough off of the Eclipse bumper to clear your FMIC/piping to it and it being a aftermarket bumper.

Its not the headlights or the intercooler/piping.....as none of that has been installed yet.

I'll go take pics now....prolly a good idea as Im butchering what I'm trying to say 1000's words and all. :)

As you can see, no headlights or intercooler/ piping yet so that is not the issue. I did notice that the bumper main beam from the talon is rubbing a bit on the inside of the eclipse bumper a bit at the top (see the last 3 pics). That is why the lower lip of the bumper still seem a bit stressed and the top 2 tabs are sitting a lil funny. That still does not explain the fender liners.

Lemme know what you think. Any and all ideas welcome. :D

I just. Want to take a second to point out. That the guy that fit an evo8 engine in a non turbo talon and is playing with one of the most complicated turbo setups available for our cars..

is complaining because his aftermarket bumper isn't fitting perfectly. LOL

Carry on men.

Sorry @kmetiuk but the irony was killing me. For an actual answer it looks like you just got a bad (old) replacement bumper and the fitment was always a bit off with those.

Hahaha. Had a good laugh over that....the irony was mos def escaping me there. :)

You're right tho, I'm overthinking this I guess. When its cosmetics/exterior I do like to put in a bit more effort to get it right as the outer skin of car is really all most people see.

Ask them if you can get another one, The problem with the bumpers isn't necessarily the "quality" as much as how they were stored, plastic will conform over time.. so if that bumper was say.. sitting at a weird angle with pressure on it for a few years it would be messed up. We have this problem with any of our "old" stock bumpers that we have in the attic at my work.

I tell anyone that's interested in those they might not line up perfectly and you're probably going to have to do some wiggling to get everything to fit or line up. it'll correct itself over time if bolted back in but a couple guys that work at body shops have suggested taking a heat gun on low and just warming the plastic where it's out of place and try to slowly massage it back to where it needs to be, they have to do that sometimes with the brand new stuff we get them that's CAPA certified.

This is a common problem with non oem parts. My father own a body shop and I help him occasionally. Parts we get are from Taiwan to keep costs low if an oem part is not available. Mounting points are always a bit off.

A little bit of heating and wiggling will get it right for u.
