What's up guy's! Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is don just bought my first 2g dsm. It's an 98 gsx completely stock. Im looking for some people in the st louis/st charles area to hook up with. Need some basics newbie info and what direction to go. Also good shops, and or people to help out. Thanks!!!!!!:thumb:

Good day and welcome Don! It is always the first thing that others will tell you....do your maintenance, fluids, belts, hoses etc FIRST. This would include the timing belt and balance shaft belt, which should be done at 60,000. Also, create a profile for us to see exactly what car you have and any modifications that you know of, if any. If you have a question, do a google search and include the term "DSM" in it and it will more than likely bring you right back here. The search feature here is a good tool too, but I have found that the google search will find more. :)

Ok sweet deal appreciate the info. Are you close to the st charles area? The car is 100% bone stock no modifications at all. One CEL for P1105 it says fuel pressure solenoid or emissions solenoid valve which I ordered from the dealer. Other than that a few minor things and basic maintenance. I work alot so if it becomes time consuming I'll just sell it.

No unfortunately I am in the southeast part of KS. How many miles on the car Don and auto or stick?

Do as you should any used vehicle and take care of the things that have been long ignored and you will have a nice DSM. Tranny fluid, transfer case fluid and rear differential fluid are all things that have probably not been checked/changed in a long time. Just plug away at those things to make it a road worthy car and think about changing the timing belt and balance shaft belt before they break and cause you a major headache. :)

Welcome to the DSM world. Like others have said, do the basics first, especially timing belt/balance shaft belt(or delete, if you go that route). Well taken care of, these are great vehicles, and too much fun!
