Now that I got the engine situation figured out....I would say I "get it" Like I said ive been doing my homework and working on my tuning. I managed no knock and 550 awhp on a mustang dyno.....im pretty proud of myself to be honest as I kept to my word from day 1. Im waiting for my block from the machinist once that's back im going to build the lower end with the manley turbo tuffs and je 10:1s. This will be the oring motor. I have the parts for over a year so its no extra cost. My real issue is my drivetrain. Im almost done saving for my ppg dogbox and 300m transfer case. Whats the point of having all this power if it doesn't translate to fast ets? I could of easily added 6-7 psi turned on the meth and made 700hp but that's just a number , who cares. Once I get the transmission sorted, throw in a inline pump my car should be good for 10s, maybe high 9s. Next goal is to get into the 10s without grenading my transmission.Yeah, no time to waste on enjoying the moment!!! Do tell!
That's awesome ams. Even more so on a mustang dyno. With a great driving mod and practice I do my see why u wouldn't break low 10s or even high 9s. Are u planning on doing any weight savings? Now that I got the engine situation figured out....I would say I "get it" Like I said ive been doing my homework and working on my tuning. No weight saving, im not interested in stripping my talon, its a one owner beauty, ive removed the bumper supports front and back but that's about it. Full interior, if im up to it I might remove the spare .That's awesome ams. Even more so on a mustang dyno. pump e85....I love this freaking stuff. c16 is a great fuel an all but the lead just f***s up all your sensors...its not worth it. With e85 you have the cost factor (cheap) , etoh's amazing ability to reduce heat and its high octane level. The only downside I see is its not available everywhere, its hydrophilic and my gas mileage is complete dog shit. I also noticed its knock threshold although higher than pump or race gas is more difficult to read ....in my opinion anyway. Im still learning and Raif was in a rush. I was very very rich during spool up, I have a feeling I could of gained significant torque/hp by leaning it out. At peak torque i was running 3* of timing ramping to 13*. Up top I managed a low 11 afr. I saw 1 small blip of knock but only registered for 100 rpm and 0.4 deg of retard at 6700. From 3k-6k I was high 10s low 11s. I mighta hit 600+ if given the time to really go through my tune. These are my observations and my opinions obviously so I could be talking outta my ass as im a new "tuner" Actions always speak louder than words. So we will see. Id like to get to the point were im able to do this on the side for money. This isn't work for me.....I truly love working on cars.So what fuel was this with?
initially I had it a 4* at 5500 and ramping it up slowly. I was at 5-6* at 6500 and 13 by 7500. Before the dyno I really didn't know where my peak torque was because I hadn't done a full 3rd gear pull. I switched it around a bit and pick up 50hp/torque . I increased the timing in the 5-5500 range by a few * , lowered my timing in the 6-6500 by a few and ramped to 13 degrees at 7500. I wish I had more time, I could of got some more acceleration by leaning out my mixture down low and played with my cam gears.3* @ 6500 and with redline at what 8500? Is it set to ramp to 8* by 7500 and 13* at 8500?
He knows his 4g63, too expensive for my blood, thats why i chose to build and tune the motor myself. You want a shortblock assembled your looking at 1000 bucks. Building motors is so easy, I dont know why it scares so many peopleAnother local guy nice, raif is definitely the man.
I have used him for transmission work, and a welded center diff. He was very reasonable priced for that stuffHe knows his 4g63, too expensive for my blood, thats why i chose to build and tune the motor myself. transmissions are def his thing......solid work.I have used him for transmission work, and a welded center diff. He was very reasonable priced for that stuff

Fuel has nothing to do with knock frequency. It's based on bore size.
I and many others have dealt with detonation being picked up by the knock sensor on e85.
