Yeah, the process I outlined above gives you full line pressure on a switch.

Kiggly's mod is more complicated, but it will also give you full line pressure in addition to being manumatic.

Will an On-Off-On switch like this work?

Possibly, but I wouldn't. In the off position the signal from the tcu wouldn't go anywhere...Possibly causing coded to be thrown. You need to send the tcu signal to either ground, or the transmission.

There's no "like this" about it. That is the exact kind of switch you should be using which is a 2 pole, double throw from what I can tell that you have. Click the switch. If it has 2 positions (up/down), that is absolutly correct. If it has three positions 3 (up/center/down), then you may want to find another switch since the center position leaves the circuit open.

A 3 position switch will work but you must switch it very quickly. I have a 3 position switch in my car to select between my shift box and my TCU control and once in a blue moon I won't flick the switch quickly enough and will throw a CEL. It's not for my lack of wanting a different switch, but I had a custom switch plate made and it's going to be a chore to locate a correct 2 position switch and wire it in.

Yea I can't get it to work, going to get a 2 position ON ON now.

Ok I got an ON ON switch two position and still no cigar TCU not controlling trans. It starts off in 3rd and only gears 2 & 3 work by manually selecting, no 1st or OD... Seems like a limp mode or something

As far as the resistor is it required? I see you guys talking about a code if not. Are we talking a CEL or some sort of trans limp mode.

Just get the $99 ForcedFour box, install a 3G Eclipse GT Slap shifter. When you slide the shifter over into TipTronic mode, full line pressure is ready for manual shifting. Slide it back into standard/auto and line pressure is stock. I have a write-up that I did when we installed it into my friends 92 Eagle Summit Wagon AWD. Ran 12's with it.

from what I have read yes it is, but agree if you don't do things right you could fry the tcu if not too careful so it's best just to get the shift box and be done with it IMO

I've stated that already in the 2nd post :D in this discussion.

True but you mean $199 not $99. Just saying

Even the shift box comes with an on/on switch if you are incorporating a TCU.

Assuming there are no other issues, the method I outlined above is the cheapest, will work, and had worked for me flawlessly for years.

Are you sure you spliced into the correct blue wire?

Ok, so if you reconnect the blue wire so it's just like stock, does the transmission act fine?
Yep drove it to work just fine once I hooked the blue wires back together.

Two different new switches, same result

So I have scrutinized this and still can't get it to work... Here is the blue wire I'm tapped into.

For starters get rid of those crimp connectors they arent really a reliable way to connect 2 wires together .
Twist and tape with shrink rap will work
But soldering is always the best way.

What in gods name is going on with your tcu harness?

More picures will be help full how did you wire up that switch and the resistor?
As for that verson of the blue wire mod best off to wait for @Kapok6 as its his way to do it

Couldn't tell you, previous owners doings... I drive it everyday no issues... As far as the connectors they will work for testing I'm not soldering and shrink wrapping anything until I can get it to work.

I'm really not sure what else to say. If you are tapping the right blue wire, and using an on/on switch, I can't see why it wouldn't work. It's exactly how I have mine hooked up and has worked flawlessly for years.

Is there a special certain resistor required?
