I checked fuel pressure its around 42 PSI, I installed new fuel filter as well.

I replaced the spark plugs/wires and the crank position sensor. I replaced the ECU with a new refurbished one and the same issue. The car takes around 15 cranks to start. Sometimes when driving the car will die as if you remove the key from the ignition

I talked to my local mechanic he said it might most likely might be the spark distributor. At this point I believe it is doomed. Should I just sell it for parts? any last second opinions to revive this?

First of all always remember you need three things to get an engine running, fuel, spark and compression. If you've replaced the crankshaft position sensor what about the camshaft position sensor? I got a gs eclipse for $500 because someone replaced that but mixed up the wires from the piggy back leads. Changed them back and the car fired right up. But what I would do in your shoes is get a compression reading. And your car doesn't have a spark distributor it has a coil pack.

So did you do anything to the car and this happened after or is this just out of the blue? If you think it's a spark issue you should get a spark tester and have someone either watch it or crank the car while you watch it to see if it's getting spark right away when it's cranked. If it doesn't you might have a sensor going bad. And as far as the key removal maybe I don't fully understand what you mean by that, but if you remove the key it cuts ignition. So unless you mean you can pull the key without turning it, which case I'd say you might want to get another ignition switch.

All in all I got rid of my GS because you want to get one with the 4g63, not the modified Dodge neon motor, they are garbage IMHO. But that's up to you. Gst, gsx and I'm not so good with talons but I believe you'd want the tsi model for the 4g63 motor. Hope this helps.

Sorry I just reread what you said about the ignition, now I understand. So scratch the ignition switch, I'd lean more toward a sensor going out or a loose/cracked wire somewhere. I tried editing my post but didn't work.

Wait... You already said spark and fuel are good. Your fuel pressure is fine, and your spark seems to be as well (guessing you did at least test it even after buying the new parts). If you're seeing the wires spark at the plug end on all 4 wires, I'd say you have nothing to worry about for now with a spark issue. I immediately thought your compression is low after reading your post, so maybe it's time to check your compression numbers. It'll only be doomed once you decide you don't want to try more options.

what sensor? I checked cam position sensor and its fine and replaced my crank position sensor

A sensor that can shut down spark such as crank/cam shaft angle sensor. If you've got a bad wire in the harness it might explain random shut off. But first before looking for a needle you need to find out if your compression is good. I can't remember the nubers I'm sure a quick search and turn up the correct ones but I think you're looking for 125-150. If you're lower then that, you'll be looking at a tear down of the motor or parts out. I see you've turbo'd a 420a, those motors aren't build for the extra internal pressure from a turbo. I'd cross your fingers that's no the case.
