What's up guys. This is my first time posting on here and hopefully you guys can help. I have recently bought a 97 gsx with an APEXI SAFC installed. The first thing I did was check the wiring to make sure it was wired correctly, then I followed the setup instructions on RRE's website and found the previous owner had the sensor type set to pressure. When I switch it to Karmen it makes it at idle 2830 rpm. I have searched and have not come across why it does this.

previous owner may have adjusted the BISS screw to keep the car alive after installing the SAFC. may be as simple as screwing it in and readjusting the idle point.

But I second the comment above, ditch the SAFC and go link, you will be much happier in the long run.

I will try that this weekend. Will eventually go dsmlink just want to get it running correctly as I currently have plans for my 350z

Maybe the fuel settings are way off. Need some kind of logger. At least a wideband. I'm thinking maybe the lo-settings on your safc are way into the positives for the previous owners old set up.. Like posts above mentioned, get dsmlink. Or at least a wideband to monitor air and fuel ratio as you adjust safc

I played with the settings. Even at -10 it idles at 1900. If I bring the settings in low to -23 it idles normal when hot but won't run when cold at that setting

So hack...
If your car is stock (or relatively stock) unbolt it (dewire? Unbolt sounds better..), and run it stock for now. You'll probably be much better off man. Seriously.

You need to see what your a/f ratio is at with a wide band or get ahold of a scan tool and see what your fuel trims are doing to start or do what almost everyone else will suggest, save time and money and go Ecmlink. Safc is a very crude and outdated way to tune and it's becoming obsolete for a reason.

I would start by doing a BLT (boost leak test) to check & fix all the vacuum leaks. Then I'd verify the idle setting & BISS.
