I bought a clutch kit and did'nt notice that it was specific for turbo dsm. My cuestion is if a 1G turbo flywheel will fit my 1G NT transmission? Also, is there a diference in size between a AWD flywheel and a turbo flywheel, and will the work correctly? Thanks for all you're help.

Cliff notes, no it will not work, proof:
http://www.advancedclutch.com/store...ke=Mitsubishi&model=Eclipse&year=1994&engine= the NTs have 215mm spec where the turbos have 225mm spec thru ACT directly.

On a side note, the AWD is turbo, so answering the 2nd question can get confusing. If you ment to say are the AWD and FWD turbo flywheels the same, the answer is also no. They are the same diameter, one is thicker than the other. Thus why the pressure plates/ discs are the same between an AWD and FWD turbo. The NTs have differnt flywheels& pressure plates& discs.

Sorry dude.

I don't know if they will fit vice versa, but I bought an awd car that had been converted to non turbo. It had a built non turbo engine, non turbo flywheel and clutch, and was still using the awd transmission.

I think an AWD clutch and flywheel would fit a n/t transmission. I personally have ran a n/t fwd clutch in my GGSX. So the ring gear is the same size between the two.
Can you clarify that a bit? You used a n/t clutch on your gsx using the awd flywheel and pressure plate? Or you used a n/t flywheel/pressure plate/clutch on your gsx?

I know the awd flywheel is a smaller diameter than the fwd turbo flywheel and both use the same clutch/pressure plate. Also you can always use a smaller diameter clutch if you wanted, so a n/t clutch(smaller than a turbo clutch) would work in a awd or fwd turbo flywheel/pressure plate, you would just loose some bite. However i was under the impression that the n/t flywheel was a different diameter than either the awd or fwd turbo?

Sorry, i used a n/t clutch and flywheel. It was in a Galant GSX actually. Factory n/t awd. I pieced it together and had a new n/t clutch laying around so I figured I would try it. It held to about 5psi LOL.

Anyway yes the turbo clutches are 225mm, and the non turbo is 215 I recall. Might be 205 though. Anyway the n/t is a different style. There is no step on the n/t clutch it is a flat flywheel. The ring gear diameter is the same on a n/t fwd, and a turbo awd and n/t awd. FWD turbo is larger. The whole thing is kinda screwy.

So if the ring gear is the same the car will start... that's good.

Now will an awd turbo flywheel clutch and pressure plate fit inside n/t trans? I want a light weight flywheel for the nonturbo car I'm putting back together.

I took a bunch of measurements and the awd and nt bell housings look identical to me. The distance between the block and gear is the same and the distance from the gear to the end of the pressure plate is the same. I couldn't compare the outside diameter... but I think you just confirmed they are the same. I even went so far as to spin a pressure plate bolted to an awd flywheel on the throw out bearing. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. The depth is the same too.

Anyone know what part number for a nt manual starter plate is?
