Hey alright so today I installed a Pro sport bosch 4.9 Wideband, New epromed ECU, DSMLINK v3. And now when I try to start the car the fuel pump relay is clicking repeatedly and the car will try to start but cant. Did I blow my fuel pump relay out?
Or maybe did I ground a wrong wire?
Or could it be the Wideband is draining too much electricity from the thing I spliced it to and now the fuel pump relay isnt getting enough juice to get the fuel pump going?

Need help kind of urgently I need the car to drive for work tommarow haha.

Thanks
Armin

there could be a few things causing this. The ecu could not be sending a good signal to the relay, or there could be a break in the coil inside the relay which would cause the relay not to send power to the pump. It is possible that if you pulled power from the fuel pump feed that the relay may not close but its unlikely. If the relay is clicking that means power is getting there so i would check power at the pump with the key on

Alright so now I switched from the epromed chipped ecu back to my normal ECU and the car runs. But runs extremely rich according to my wideband its around 10 or so. Also this is a brand new ecu with a new DSMLINK v3

If the relay is chattering, clicking on and off quickly, it could be a problem with the socketing or with the install of the DSMLink. Did you send the ECU to ECMTuning to be done? Did you install the V3 "chip" yourself? Is it in the right way and are all the pins in the socket?

Years later.... This is the same problem im currently having. ECMlink did my upgrade and cap replacement. The relay for the fuel pump chatters at any load above idle rpm. If i take a short drive the relay chatters non stop till i let off the gas. I have a 190lph fuel pump and no rewire. Stock ECU the car runs and drives fine, with no changes and the realy does not chatter. It leads me to believe its a bad ECU.

Also i sent them a log and they told me there was "nothing out of the ordinary".

Could be bad ecu drivers or some type wiring issue. Send it in to ecmlink and they will get it back to you really fast.
Im gonna rule out wiring because Im now running my stock ECU and everything is back to normal. It sucks because I just received it from them 2 days ago.

Do you know how to measure the voltages at the fuel pump relay?

All three (input, output and ECU signal) are useful information but the input and ECU signal voltage are the most telling if the relay is chattering.

What I would usually see is the ECU control signal wouldn't be pulled down strongly to ground.

So it could be a grounding issue? I ended up removing the ECU because the car was undrivable. i just installed a fuel pump rewire but I can start the car because I have broken turbo to manifold studs. (Just broke them today changing the o2 gasket). The pump does sound weak to me, even though there is a new alternator and newer battery (few months old). Possibly the rewire could help? I just don't get how the stock ECU works but the ecmlink ECU doesn't. Unless it's a bad ECU itself.

That's what I'm thinking. I guess I'm just reaching trying to remedy the problem with alternative solutions when I know it's the ECU. I'll still give it another shot after I replace the gaskets and see if the rewire does anything. I'll update once it's back up and running.

Stock ecu doesnt chatter. Ecmlink ecu does. Seems fairly definitive to me.
Clearly. The measurement was to narrow the type of damage to ECMLink ECU and make sure there isn't additional issues.

I know, I know I said it too, it was the ECU all along. I was just reaching and hoping for another solution. Guess I need to start hunting for another eprom ECU. Thank you for the responses!

If ECMTuning worked on it, contact them again. There is little that would show in a logfile for this sort of problem. They would need to physically test it.
Hi just to update this thread ecmtuning has found my problem, straight from ecmtuning:

""Your bad ECU has a damaged IC109 driver for the Evap Purge solenoid and the fuel-pump relay. This problem is rare enough that we don't normally test for it without the report of any fuel-pump symptoms, so it's possible that the damage was present the last time the ECU was here and we simply missed it. We'll go ahead and replace IC109.

Your replacment ECU tests fine. We'll test IC109 in the new ECU after we install the socket.

It's possible that the damage to IC109 was caused by having the Evap Purge solenoid harness connector inadvertently plugged in to the brake-reservoir fluid-level switch, so you'll want to check for that. If this connection mistake is made, IC109 becomes damaged if the brake-fluid level ever gets low.""

I ended up buying another eprom and sent both out. Now I'll have a good working backup. Also, I know I didn't plug in the wrong connector but I guess stranger things have happened. That ECU sat in my closet for some time unused. But I'm glad it's resolved.
