so guys my eclipse gst 95 few weeks ago the transmission got burned
took it to the mechanic and after a while they found out water had caused the transmision to burn. water actually went inside transmission. that im sure of i seen it my self, also on oil there was milky color etc so im sure of it

anyways i fixed my transmission, but i didnt know the source of water that came in my tranny????? i dont want it to happen again... i spent alot fixing the transmission...
anyways the mechanic told me the problem is my radiator , needs to be changed as it caused the water and i cant drive the car because it will leak water again...
but after asking some friends, they told me its impossible because our radiator setup has no water , it has air cooling ONLY,
so im not sure what caused this , nor my mechanic know whats the problem
i have a good mechanic friend that will come by saturday and inspect my car hopefully he knows whats the problem
anyways just wanted to ask you guys what possible options we have that made water get into my transmission?
 
Our cooling systems are indeed water to air not air cooled. How coolant made it in to your tranny is a mystery to me. There is only one place it could really enter the trans and that's the little breather over by the VSS.

Edit: Is this an auto car? If so the coolant probably entered through the trans cooler.

If your friends really believe this, you should stop talking to them about cars. That is stupidity to a new level.

Since your transmission is automatic the trans cooler is located in the radiator. It's actually rather common for OEMs to do. The trans pumps oil through a specific circuit in the radiator similar to how the water pump moves the coolant through the radiator. It's possible coolant is leaking into the trans lines... but I would also expect your coolant to be equally as milky looking.

so its possible my radiator is causing all of this as the other mechanic said right? changing my radiator will fix the problem i guess? or is there more i shld do other than changing the radiator? ( ik u guys wont know exactly what to do as im asking online but just give me thoughts)

Yes radiator is the cause. Change radiator and do a coolant flush and that should be good after flush and refill coolant with a 50/50 mix and rebuild trans obviously LOL. Anymore ? Just ask
 
thank u so much guys :D i already got a new transmission gonna do the rest tomorrow , as i live in dubai its really hard to find parts hehe :(

MOST 2g automatic DSMs (turbo only) have a separate trans cooler (look inside the drivers side bumper, opposite of smic), although once in awhile I hear of one that has the trans cooler in the radiator. Since you have a 95 you have to check. On my late 95, 96, and 97 the lines run directly to the trans bypassing the rad.

If you have a seperate trans cooler, the radiator is NOT the problem.

You are correct but, op didn't say it was a turbo and no info on profile. I would have thought if it was turbo then op would have said since most "new owners" are ALWAYS happy to say it's "turbo"
 
Lol, there was a spot on my screen at the time. My bad :ohdamn:

Also, stock cooler could have been removed at some point or ran trans lines into the radiator and had essentially 2 coolers. See that plenty of times on all makes and models. Op needs to trace lines and see exactly what they have. As @PlanZero stated if there is an external cooler being used then NO it's not the radiator Unless it's tied into radiator as well as external cooler.

well my car is a turbo charged, but not really sure if i can know weather my transmission cooler is inside my transmission etc
got no knoledge of what , but i will ask my mechanic

hey guys just a quick question... i know i can find answers if i search but im lazy , well since my tranny is new i wana ask what kind of fluid i shld use? is it posibl to use any fluid ? or is there a specific fluid i should use? thank you ( i heard of sp ii i think?)
