Okay. I've got a good one. Only one other person has done it, and he did it to a vr4. I'm swapping a 4g63t into 3000gt fwd sl and in trying to beat the fwd record for 3s. The best part is the pinout is SUPER SIMILAR, and the vr4 harness will plug directly into a 2g dsm ecu. Thats beside the point. I'm picking up my block in 2 weeks then its going to the machine shop. I've got wiseco 8.8:1 pistons and eagle h beam rods going into a 7 bolt. I don't know too much about the 4g63 but I have a really good general knowledge of all motors and this isnt my first time. The 3kgt is completly gutted for full weight reduction but its still a heavy car! I'm looking for around 700 to the wheels on 93Oct (e85 is 50 minutes away!!). Best way to achieve that in a relatively heavy car?
So far I've got the pistons, rods and I'm going with a forged crankshaft and possibly a aftermarket cam (suggestions on cams please).
Suggestions on turbo?
Any advice towards my build is greatly appreciated. I know this post is super scattered, and I do apologize. But its 3am and I just finished working 12 hours. If I get enough people interested I can document my full build and do a complete write-up.

Start a build thread...when you can. what trans, axles etc are you using? afaik, you should be able to use any fwd 3s axles and 4g trans/engine combo. may need to use 3s outer axles with 4g inner and intermediate pieces. @familyMAN would be one to pm about this.

Should be fun, or at least a journey, to find a fun time between a sexy body and great engine.

If you plan to keep the non turbo/fwd hubs on your 3000, DSM axles may be a direct drop in fit.

With TT hubs, some mixing and matching of inner cups/axles will be required. The stock 3000 driver axle ends up too long on a 4Gswap. But taking a 3000 passenger axle, which is shorter, and swapping on a driver side inner cup, it works out.

If you want to break the 3S fwd 1/4 mile record, I would get an auto trans. Obviously proven in fwd chassis by kiggly. That's the direction I would go to beat the 10.19 ET record.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I'll try the fwd hubs first and see if the DSM axles drop in. If not then I already have vr4 hubs, axles and bbk I can swap over. I plan on going auto trans! Undecided if I should go with awd trans with welded center diff or a gst fwd trans? Also what gen engine are you running? You went 7-bolt right?

6 bolt are more plentiful. I went 7 bolt only because that's what I found within driving distance, as a full long block with accessories in a 2.4 (which is what I originally wanted.)

Okay, well I've got my rods and pistons. Picking up my block christmas week for $50 :D! Then dropping it off at the machine shop to get it checked out. I figured for $50 its worth the risk, if its bad I'll scrap it and buy a long block. Still debating between BC cams or Kelford 272s. Heard good thing about both, and the BCs are a little on the cheaper side. Getting a stock crank balanced and polished (that saves me a lot of money). Not sure if I will get the head ported. Heard the 7bolt head has super good flow already, but time will tell. Anyways I'm just rambling because on really excited to be building another engine. Never gets old!

This would be a sick build. Wish you luck on beating that record. Will be following along if you do a build thread!

sounds like a cool project, I will be interested on how this turns out and how much mixing and matching parts you do to get it finished, do you know what engine management you are going to use?

Well so far I'm going to be using a 1g vr4 wiring harness that plugs directly up to a 2g ecu, so thats going to make life easy. I'm going to do some experimenting with the axles, not sure on my choice there yet. Instead of AEM EMS I'm going to be using DSMlink, the AEM scares me shitless. I think for fuel pump I'm goimg with a dual pump setup and just stock up on e85 because its so far away from me.

If you are going auto, the swap mounts come with instructions for exactly what you need for axles. But since you are NA 3000GT, instead of vr4, there is a very good chance that DSM front axles will work.

Send the 2g head to Curt Brown...he'll do the magic on it! Well worth the money IMO. And if those are your cam choices, Kelfords all day. BC is decent for a low budget, but for something like you are planning for, don't sell yourself short on one of the items that will make or break you. Your powerband and power range need to be spot on!

Thanks for the advice! I was actually just reading about Curt Browns head service and thats probably the route I'm going to take. After a little more research I decided not to go with Crower cams, for exactly your reasoning. Kelfords is going to be the best that I'm going to get.

Okay, well I want to apologize. I just reread thia post, not only did I work 12 hours this night, but I also thought it was a good idea to stop by the bar on my way home. Anyhow, I don't know why I thought I was going to be able to get 700whp on 93oct LOL. E-85 is definitely my option, and currently going for 600hp. That sounds more realistic. I just picked up a block that I found cheap in the area and I'll be dropping it off at the machine shop so I can begin this adventure. Also, I'm not going to use the 8.8:1 pistons, picking up some HD 10:1 pistons instead, for obvious reasons.

just saw your post, good luck beating the record
should be a cool build
Thanks! The block I picked up wasn't stock bore like the owner claimed. So I'm still looking for a donor get/gsx in my area.
