So over the winter I'm looking to push 500 out of the ole Talon, what I'm mainly looking for is good proven combos for piston/rods, aluminum rods would be sweet. By Christmas e85 should be here so my car will be getting converted. So far I'm really looking at the fp manifold and red combo for my turbo. I dont have anything yet so please critique my ideas, I've been doing as much research as I can about everything. Also an auto swap is in order with a shift box.

Make sure your clutch and shift linkage is in good order or you'll be sorry in the transmission department at that power level pretty quickly with high rpm shifts.

My only advice for you getting rods/pistons is to find a machine shop that's not going to freddy fuzzpucker your stuff and blame you for the problem. Competent machine shops are like unicorns.

The real question is: Are you going to be content once you reach 500hp. The answer is more then likely NO. Over building (especially when building a motor and fuel system setups) is always a good idea!

You dont need aluminum rods at 500hp.

I hit 515hp 450-475tq on my old set up. I had h beam rods and low expansion pistons from mahle. (Material:4032) Was great for daily driving as the pistons were not made of 2618 which in turn lowers the piston to wall clearance which eliminates piston slap at startup.

If you are worried about bending a rod, then go Ibeam. I beams can handle up to 900 without a problem with arp treated studs.

Back to my main point. You shouldnt even be considering Aluminum rods as there is no need and you wont be pulling the engine every 10-20k miles to check clearances.

Thanks for your input guys, I will be going with arp head studs and rod studs but I would like to keep the stock main bolts to avoid the main boring. Which leads me to another question my car came with new arp main studs, could I install them to factory torque and be fine?
I plan on pretty much doing mostly everything myself unless needed after I plastigauge and measure.
I decided I'm going to go with the fp black for sure. I was thinking maybe just a simple eagle/Manley h beam rod and weisco combo, 8.5-9:0:1 compression to stay fairly reasonable on pump 92/meth if I ever travel with the car.
I would like to max out the turbo eventually as I grow the balls to get on it LOL. So I would basicly like a setup that will be able to handle probably max 70lb/min on a good cool day with probably a MAX of 8500rpms and not send projectiles through my hood.
Would the H beams do me good for this or would I be better off with the I beams?

Any reputable brands should be just fine. I am over 500hp on the FP red and e85. I would ditch the meth idea, especially since you will likely already be running a flex fuel map (using both fuel/timing tables) so you wont be able to run a meth map. Just run lower boost when on 93oct. You will need a pretty hefty fuel system to support that power on E85.

Good call, I really only have the meth because the tdo5h 20g I have now creates so much heat at higher boost levels.
Now on to the fuel system. I was thinking the fic 1650s,(probably gonna have to donate my leg for the price) and a walbro 450 and 8an lines but I'm open to suggestions!

I am facing the same fuel decisions... You will be ok with oem fuel lines (as far as size is concerned). I will be going with 2150s (easier idle, room for growth). Still weighing my options on which fuel pump.
