The problem isn't just speed shops. Its mechanics period. I gave up trying to turn wrenches as a living. Shop owners are thieves and scammers, idiots, or just plan bad at what they do. I worked at 5 shops in 1 year because the owners/managers almost always dick you over on pay or make you half ass work to get it out the door quicker. finally I just said to hell with it, sold all my expensive shit I didnt need to work on my own cars, and got a job in a plant. Now I got a bunch of student loans on a degree that is useless because finding a good shop to work for locally is impossible.

I can agree with that. Shops around here use coat hangers to install exhausts. I can not find a painter anywhere. Every painter i've ever met or spoke with has been a coke head. It seems like a requirement for the job.

Im in the same boat as you. Honestly contemplating selling all my toys. Stuff like this has just sucked the interest out of the entire hobby for me. Im really just over it all.

I dealt with the same stuff with atv's when i was a kid. Paying out for top parts and skilled labor and getting shit in return.

Thats why i mentioned america getting their ass handed to them economically. Theres always been a big push to buy american and support your local businesses, except the locals cant be trusted and put out shoddy work.

And just to update this thread. The last i've heard from them was 3 weeks ago. He said the parts would be shipped out by June 24th. Its now July 13th and im moving ahead with the court proceedings.

I'm dealing with this with a DSMer.. paid for an FMIC kit almost 2 months ago and I'm still waiting, no reply at all via tuners or texting him, basically just sitting and rotating, I decided to "send as gift" and that'll be the last time that ever happens. I just figured because he owned a shop and was a fellow DSMer things would get taken care of quickly. At least you have some legal recourse you can take, I have to sit and blame myself. LOL

Yeah never do that. I even pay the fee for local people because you never know what's going to happen. I paid $400 for 23 spline trans and had a friend pick up it for me on the other side of town. It turns out it's a 22 spline trans. You never know when you'll need that PayPal option.
