Alright So the car i recently purchased is idling at 2000 rpm and can not figure out why. Some insight of things to look for would be greatly appreciated. So far i have checked the following and is not working correctly.
No more vacuum leaks
IPS set correctly
TPS set correctly
ISC working properly
No EGR valve
Biss is all the way in
Throttle cable is loose
The only way i can get the idle close to 900 is to change my throttle from 13% to 0% in ECM Live, but that throws my fuel trim and A/F ratios way off. Only thing i can think of right now is that when the previous owner was running the car he was doing so with all the issues i fixed. That is leading me to setting the ECU back to stock and starting from scratch with the tuning. Does that seem logical to anyone?

P.S. sorry if this is something already out there. everything i searched was for cars with 2g and 1g parts. my car is all 1G parts wasn't sure if it made a difference.

i JUST went through this. block the FIAV off. i did all that you tried and lived with it with the biss nearly bottomed out for a few months until i got time to pull the throttle body and block the FIAV. issue resolved.

sweet ill give it a try. did you have to bye/make that block off plate after or did you just "screw" the valve in?

never mind just read that the block off plates are only if you remove the FIAV altogether. Ill post back later to let you all know if it helped.

Isn't your throttle supposed to be at 0% at idle?...

Everything i read about the 1G says that idle should be around 10-13% at idle, unless I'm wrong, but 75% of the time I'm right all the time...haha.

Anyway for those of you that are curious i adjusted the FIAV all the way in and moved coolant line and it fixed my high idle problem. However, it spawned a whole new issue...(wait for it).......NO IDLE....LOL. car starts up and then dies. not to worried at the moment considering the BISS screw is bottomed out and the tuning is probably way out, oh and its wasn't warmed up yet. all good though, gives me something else to look in to. hopefully it isn't as much of a pain in the butt as the high idle was.

Unless I'm totally missing the point I'm pretty sure your throttle % should be 0 at idle considering your.......at idle...:) that's probably why your idle was so high. Look into resetting your tps position via link. Also, the reason why your car is dying is because you have your biss screwed all the way in. You aren't giving the engine enough air. I just did this last week :)

Yeah i figured that this issue was going to come up so I'm trying to work the problem. gonna try to adjust the BISS screw out a bit so it will hold idle a bit better while warming up then work on dialing it in after. As far as TPS goes i tried dialing it to 0% but when i did it made my fuel trims and MAF raw impossible to get right, at 10% everything was a good. ill give it another shot though once i get it warmed up. thanks for the input.

Post up a log for us Kringle, let it idle for about 5 minutes or so and let us have a looksie, it's just easier then you trying to explain everything, as long as you cover the mechanical health of the car we can assist you with the tuning aspect. And for the record, @Vegas smith is correct.. at idle, you should be at 0%.

oh ok ill fix that. first i got to get it to idle and warm up for 5 minutes then ill post.
