With that $15, do you get real track prep? Track workers? Concessions? An ax course and crew? A national event caliber facility? Payout?

If it's so easy and cheap to do, why aren't you doing it?

Anyway, I gave you a legitimate response on why I go, and you have nothing for that. You keep picking at stuff that doesn't matter.

You need to re read. I never made the significant other comment.

You need to re read. Did I say you specifically said that? No, I said those examples do not (and should not) constitute "passionate discussion" to 99% of the population.

Regardless, it doesn't matter who said what, it only matters that this type of inappropriate content doesn't belong on a car forum.

If your idea of passionate discussion involves racial metaphors, insults, boning one's significant other, and the implication that adults still breast feed, then sure...Passionate discussion.

For the rest of us, it's unprofessional, and typically how I would expect a bunch of 12 year old kids to talk to each other.
I've never insulted anyone in nor made any implications.

I used the "racial metaphor " to show my point of exclusivity. Nothing more!! Like all of my other "non racial metaphors".

I have no response? Have you even read some of your responses. Your thought process boggles everybody's mind. Why even response to something so far off topic.

Im not trying to get people to "not go". Im trying to understand why DSMs even attend this event when the track is pretty much open to anything youd like to bring. Its not a dsm shootout, the vendor doesnt even race a dsm, aka why show up in a dsm. I wont be attending following years for these reasons alone.

As for everyone else, please keep it to actual useful input. Dont want things shutting down. GST will drop the hammer :p

I have been going to the shootout since 2g's were the newest thing on the property, I didnt like Evo's coming along, but realized that it wouldnt ruin the event for me if I didnt let it, there was always other cars there that ran the test and tune anyway, as far as I'm concerned the Gtr's and Evo's are just running test and tune while we have time between rounds to get things on the Dsm's done in preparation to go back out. Bottom line the sky isnt falling, and the shootout is a very individual experience, you get out of it what you want to get out of it and if that doesnt work for you stay home I guess.

Consider that alot of the oil downs and hotel trouble over the years have been from the Dsm crowd and you will come to the conclusion that Buschur Racing must have love for these cars or we wouldnt have been invited all of these years. As far as income from the event, consider all of the years that Buschur didnt make money from it and had to put up with alot of crap because of it, he has built this event up on his own and he deserves to make something from it at this point in the game, anybody else would.

The bottom line is people go because:
1) Other dsmers go.
2) It has been traditionally a DSM event even though that isn't the case today.
3) It is still put on by an old school DSM shop.

If the event were put on by CX Racing and it was come one come all, then I would agree that there isn't a reason to go.

I go because I've been going for 20 years straight and it's STILL the only place to see that many DSMs in one place at one time. Period. I drive my old-ass Ross piston/Eagle rod, 20g turbo DSM there just for the camaraderie and joy of having an excuse to drive the damn thing again. I don't even race and I like it that way.:D I like to see all the guys doing new things and trying different combos. Seeing what works and what doesn't work for others helps me plan my next direction of what I'd like to with my car. It also helps that I'm only an hour and a half away from the track, so that has a lot to do with why I continue to go I'm sure, but as long as Dave still has the event I will continue to go. Evos, GTRs, whatever, I will still be there.;)

You should share some cool stories that you have from over the years.

Also Mods, when I posted last it did not feed to the front page. Did you remove that feature from this thread? And if so, why?

No, the Moderators did not remove this thread from the font page feed. Threads in "The Hangout" section do not get populated on the front page, because they typically don't relate to technical/informative DSM based platform discussion (Case and point, this thread).

This thread will show up in the "Recent Discussions" side window pane if you're viewing a thread, however.

That's all that's being asked. Site staff aren't here to sensor the masses and be Nazis, we're here to make sure this place doesn't turn into the equivalent of a poop slinging Facebook group.

I like the GT-R's being there....it's brought in a lot of fast cars and outside media/vendor attention that the event has definitely never had in the past.

The GT-R's are all in their own classes so any DSM or Evo owner should never meet one in competition. With the amount of participating DSM's dwindling annually, unfortunately the event had to expand a bit to keep progressing forward. At least they didn't expand into Subarus- nobody wants those hunks of garbage there. :p

Laughed so hard at that last comment. I wish my brother could read it. He drives a 2015 STi that barely outruns my Volvo S70 on the highway.. Hehe...

I don't mind the GTR's it cool to go somewhere to see people competing for the world records. My only gripe is all the peoples break downs and they oil up the track with no respect to the rules. That shit gets so old when you are racing. Then the rules change making it more work for the people who fallow them. Summit motorsports complex was toying with the idea of not letting us race there anymore. They said they set the record for applying VHT last year. Crazy.
