I have a love/hate relationship with our pull-your-part. I love going out there and taking things apart. I hate how the bill always ends up being higher than I think it should. I grabbed the rear suspension out of a 3g. Most of the walk-throughs I read say that you need a spacer for the sway bar. It looks like the 3g rear subframe is the same as ours, except it has the spacer for the sway bar already welded up (obviously). I hope that I'm right, or I wasted $40 on the subframe ON HALF OFF DAY! The whole set up was a tick under $100.

It looks like the bracket that attaches to the knuckle on the upper control arm could use some more beef. I plan on welding it a little better and powder coating it. Mom would have a stroke if I used her oven, so I guess I'll be calling around to get this stuff pc'ed.

Lots of interior stuff done today. I've found a few puzzling things that previous owners felt the need to do. Here goes...

So for some reason, someone thought that it would be a good idea to have a stereo head unit without the mounting brackets. I picked those up at the junkyard Saturday and cleaned all of the rust off of them. Here they are prepped to be painted:

Pics of the interior ripped out:

What is supposed to plug into this?

And these two harnesses? I figured out that the big one is for the power mirror switch. No idea why it isn't taped up with the cruise and fog light harnesses.

Previous owner felt the need to jack up the ignition wiring, apparently.

Yay! No more tan interior. Lots of work still to do, especially in that spare tire well :-O. Plus a lot of mysterious wiring. I have the two sub boxes built. The plan is to restore the front to a factory grey interior as closely as I can. I won't be putting rear seats back in. I'm putting two subs and the amps there. The trunk deck will be raised to meet the level of the subs. We'll see how it turns out.

This has taken way longer than I expected, but things are starting to come together. I haven't updated this in awhile.

These are now almost finished being carpeted. We had a crappy electric stapler so I had to go get the Craftsman one. It is definitely going a lot faster now. Just 1 1/2 boxes to go.

Driver's side wiring harness. If you look closely you can see where the aftermarket power lock wires are taped in:

Driver's door grommet/boot. The five bullet connectors are for the door locks. I did the same thing with two speaker wires for the Rockford Fosgate P165-S. I did this for when I eventually take the door off and paint everything:

I cut this hole with the Dremel Circle Cutter. As you can see, it is a piece of garbage. Don't try to be lazy. Just draw the circle and use a jigsaw:

This is the other one with the jigsaw:

My favorite part:

I followed this post to remove the dash speakers. These are my results...

I didn't modify the stock basket at first, so the factory grill stuck up too high:

I dremeled out the bottom of the basket, and slightly modified the basket that came from Rockford Fosgate:

Put the one piece inside the basket, the other behind the basket, and screw it together with the provided screw:

Success!
