1150's were maxed out on my car with boost at 30 psi. Upgraded to some 1650's and now my duty cycle looks much better; 60-70% with the boost set at 35 psi.

What airflow are you seeing?1150's were maxed out on my car with boost at 30 psi. Upgraded to some 1650's and now my duty cycle looks much better; 60-70% with the boost set at 35 psi.
Ok well I just looked at my log and im creeping up past 70% at 28-29 psi. Now this is with meth injection so im adding fuel to the mix so im guessing I would probably be running out of steam at this point. Am I correct? Any recommendation's on injectors? I plan on running ethanol in the future but im hearing large injectors idle like shit? fic high z injectors run close to 700 bucks! I was think 1600 maybe 1750?A general "rule of thumb" is 80%. Now if you are maxing out the airflow of a turbo and are at say an 82% duty cycle then it would probably be ok but in your case where the turbo still has "plenty of meat left on the bone"... then it would be advisable.
They are the best large injector available. I ran a billet 3582 at 40+ psi on e85 and had plenty of injector. I then filled up with 93 octane and drove 2500 miles back to as getting 30mpg and idling like stock.I just cant believe the fic high z 1650s are 700+ dollars, my god that is alot of cash. I understand you get what you pay for but holy hell.
So the high z injectors you have to plug off your resister pack, and they plug right in yes?I say get the largest you can afford. I have 2150's as does @keltalon they idle perfect on pump race gas and e85 ive had them a long time just can't use any fuel with MTBE like q16 or vp import
I agree 100% go as large as you can. The 2150s are just plain awesome. As far as idle concern I will post a video and you can determine if the idle is acceptable enough to warrant you purchasing them! As far as removing the resistor its super simple you remove the resistor plug and plug in the connector that comes with the injectors.I say get the largest you can afford. I have 2150's as does @keltalon they idle perfect on pump race gas and e85 ive had them a long time just can't use any fuel with MTBE like q16 or vp import
I've had both the 1650's and 2150's. The 1650's are a better all around injector. 1650cc meets requirements for a lot of power. They also have stainless internals and are compatable with all fuels, and won't rust shut when left with e85 in them.
I've seen at least 10 people have issues with the 2150's. They are a repurposed cng injector and weren't designed for liquid fuels like the 1650's.
However if you have power goals over 650-700 whp on e85, the 2150's are about your only choice.
High z 1650's. Any low z injector I've used over 1200ish cc wasn't very good at low pulse width.
Also the high z 1650's are plug and play without injector plug adapters.
This is the main reason I went with 2150s. Even then I am currently at 81% duty cycle @40psi! Anything smaller will endeed have issues. That's why its stated above go as big as you can afford right now and I agree!I will say this, you have to look at the whole puzzle. On my previous setup when I could run afr's at 11.5-12, my 1550's were fine. no higher than 70% IDC at WOT, 30-35psi on E85. Now that I have to run 9.5-10 afrs on this setup, I am upper 80's to low 90's. I may need bigger injectors when I slap a bigger turbo on. Look at the whole puzzle.
You know what guys, id make the arguement that buying fuel management is alot like buying tires. Everyone wants to go fast but don't want to spend the money. I would say as a "tuner" a Priority should always be a solid engine management system. You get what u pay for. I'm running pte 1000cc injectors and/or repurposed rebored denso injectors. These high z injectors sound like they are quality pieces. I'm leaning towards the 1650s......my goal is 600whp, this should be attainable with a Walbro 450 and 1650s correct? This is the main reason I went with 2150s. Even then I am currently at 81% duty cycle @40psi! Anything smaller will endeed have issues. That's why its stated above go as big as you can afford right now and I agree!
