I am new and in need of wise advise. I replaced manual trans in 99 spyder nt with 98 gst trans. bolts up fine I have read several discussions, still having trouble. clutch will not engage when running. new clutch pp tb fluid and has been bled to death. 98 is 4g63 99 is 4g64. I apologize in advance for lack of knowledge. fluid is royal purple.

Look up Jafromobile on YouTube. All his videos are DSM related and he has an entire playlist dedicated to transmissions and clutches. You're issue is probably a simple once you watch his videos he goes over everything you need to know. How it helps

Yes thank you David we are in process of shimming pivot ball....funny I know a david james in ohio LOL.

Ok update so far first I need to add info ... I have a 99 eclipse spyder nt manual. and 98 gst manual. the trannys are identical except the axles. spyder trans junk, hole in case, attempting to put 98 gst tranny in. spyder 4g64 gst 4g63. new clutch pp tb flywheel good in gst trans. for some reason travel on pp is not enough....we have shimmed pivot ball however this is making tb come pretty far out on shaft. going to install tonight.

Update...trans in and working shimmed pivot ball....98 gst trans in 99 non turbo spyder...axle swap no prob... Clutch pedal could be better but ok. For now. .now we have high idle smh working on.

If memory serves those are not the same transmission. Nt is f5m31 and turbo if f5m33. They use different flywheel and clutches. This could be your problem. You need to verify. They do look very similar.

Actually used flywheel of of turbo...they are exactly the same...the awd is different

Well I don't know much at all but they matched....had to use axles out of our 98 gst parts car...trans and flywheel came out of it. Fast idle is fixed. It was something with the cruise control.
