A general "rule of thumb" is 80%. Now if you are maxing out the airflow of a turbo and are at say an 82% duty cycle then it would probably be ok but in your case where the turbo still has "plenty of meat left on the bone"... then it would be advisable.

Ok well I just looked at my log and im creeping up past 70% at 28-29 psi. Now this is with meth injection so im adding fuel to the mix so im guessing I would probably be running out of steam at this point. Am I correct? Any recommendation's on injectors? I plan on running ethanol in the future but im hearing large injectors idle like shit? fic high z injectors run close to 700 bucks! I was think 1600 maybe 1750?

I can't speak too much on injector sizing for e85 and big turbos as I don't make big power but you are right with the water/meth. I run meth as well as I only have access to 1 e85 pump and I find it much more convenient keeping a spare gallon of water/meth in the trunk vs hoping I'm close to that one station.

Maybe one of the big power guys can chime in on injectors @keltalon or @Archer Fabrications I know there are others but Kel and archy come to mind as they frequent a lot...

I just cant believe the fic high z 1650s are 700+ dollars, my god that is alot of cash. I understand you get what you pay for but holy hell.

Ya I was shocked as well when I was putting my 2g together, so I got some 950's used from the classifieds, no problems yet. Maybe give that a shot... keep your eye out!

They are the best large injector available. I ran a billet 3582 at 40+ psi on e85 and had plenty of injector. I then filled up with 93 octane and drove 2500 miles back to as getting 30mpg and idling like stock.

I say get the largest you can afford. I have 2150's as does @keltalon they idle perfect on pump race gas and e85 ive had them a long time just can't use any fuel with MTBE like q16 or vp import
So the high z injectors you have to plug off your resister pack, and they plug right in yes?

FWIW I run FIC 1550's. On my old motors at 30-35psi I never saw higher than 70% IDC with the DSM76. The setup where I was trapping 130.75 that is.

On this new setup, with the ridiculous fuel requirements i'm knocking at 90% IDC, but I am also having to keep my AFR's in the 9.5-10.0 area. If I could lean it out .5-1 point, the duty cycles would be much better. They have been awesome E85 injectors, but I may be needing to upgrade soon when I get a bigger turbo...

I agree 100% go as large as you can. The 2150s are just plain awesome. As far as idle concern I will post a video and you can determine if the idle is acceptable enough to warrant you purchasing them! As far as removing the resistor its super simple you remove the resistor plug and plug in the connector that comes with the injectors.

I've had both the 1650's and 2150's. The 1650's are a better all around injector. 1650cc meets requirements for a lot of power. They also have stainless internals and are compatable with all fuels, and won't rust shut when left with e85 in them.

I've seen at least 10 people have issues with the 2150's. They are a repurposed cng injector and weren't designed for liquid fuels like the 1650's.

However if you have power goals over 650-700 whp on e85, the 2150's are about your only choice.

Are you comparing high impedance 1650's to the 2150s, or low impedance bluemax 1650's to the high impedance 2150's?

Also, FIC offers 1800cc blue max low-z injectors...

High z 1650's. Any low z injector I've used over 1200ish cc wasn't very good at low pulse width.

Also the high z 1650's are plug and play without injector plug adapters.

OK. Thanks for clarifying.

I run 1550 Bluemaxes and don't have any issues really but I also have an easy tune box.

I will say this, you have to look at the whole puzzle. On my previous setup when I could run afr's at 11.5-12, my 1550's were fine. no higher than 70% IDC at WOT, 30-35psi on E85. Now that I have to run 9.5-10 afrs on this setup, I am upper 80's to low 90's. I may need bigger injectors when I slap a bigger turbo on. Look at the whole puzzle.

This is the main reason I went with 2150s. Even then I am currently at 81% duty cycle @40psi! Anything smaller will endeed have issues. That's why its stated above go as big as you can afford right now and I agree!

You know what guys, id make the arguement that buying fuel management is alot like buying tires. Everyone wants to go fast but don't want to spend the money. I would say as a "tuner" a Priority should always be a solid engine management system. You get what u pay for. I'm running pte 1000cc injectors and/or repurposed rebored denso injectors. These high z injectors sound like they are quality pieces. I'm leaning towards the 1650s......my goal is 600whp, this should be attainable with a Walbro 450 and 1650s correct?

I am running the low z 1650 bluemax's, Aeromotive 340 pump on E85 (or e70) and am in the 600's on Link, no dyno. I ran out of fuel on 1120's with IDC's over 100, so I went with these that were used. I would go with the new 1800's, IIRC, as they are ethanol compatible. Yes pricey and if you think you will need more then go ahead and do 2150's and run regular gas thru them before you park the car for any period of time. That can be an unknown so, and this is only a suggestion, if you are running Ethanol, get injectors that are made for that type of fuel.

I still will never understand the "get stuff rated for ethanol" thing. Fuel has had 10% ethanol in it since I can remember. I would think if it were going to ruin something in your fuel system then everyone running gasoline would be seeing fuel system failures.
