afternoon,
Oil pressure gauge both after market and gauge cluster gauge not working. I do have oil pressure, i popped off oil cap and everything is viably lubed up. I replaced the sending unit. Still not working. What is the next step?
Thanks
John

its tapped into the top of the oil pressure sending unit i just replaced .
You could have 2 lbs of oil pressure and still have oil in the head, I wouldnt judge anything at all from that...you REALLY need to find out what the problem is pronto before you run that thing into the ground.

So the aftermarket gauge is electrical and reads from the same location as the stock gauge? Sorry if I don't understand as I haven't messed with an electrical oil pressure gauge before.

You could try getting a mechanical gauge and reading pressure from one of the plugs in the OFH. Also, is the low oil pressure light coming on?

Go get a cheap mechanical guage and thread it into the front of the head by removing the allen plug, then check it there.

It's right by the factory turbo oil feed location in the head. I always wondered what that plug was for.

Edit: ninja'd

gauge is an auto meter phantom. Its not new but it was working. i just had forged internals put in manley/wiesco combo and balance shaft removed. The gauge was reading low pressure before the engine was torn apart. So when it still read low after rebuild i figured it was the sending unit. The next step i am going to do is i bought an oil pressure measuring tool from amazon. I was going to check to see if its the gauge or maybe something was misaligned when the balance shaft was removed. I want to know before i put miles on it. My question is wheres the best place to plug the oil pressure testing gauge in. From what i researched i should take the oil pressure sending unit off the OFH and plug it in there fire the car up let it idle and see what it reads. Around 30-40 psi at idle and 80psi when revving.

so i put the gauge on and this is the reading i got. it just a cheap eBay gauge but it seems like the oil pressure is fine. correct me if I'm wrong. so what is the next step. why is both the dash and my after market gauge reading zero? Is there a fuse i can check?

So i got my gauge in the car to work however it bounces all over the place. Is there a common fix to it. the mechanical gauge i got says the oil pressure is fine so the problem is some where else. Do i just have a bad connection some where? Also my dash gauge doesn't work at all..
