Alright, good stuff so far. :) I finally took a few days to just relax and breathe, and I came back. The wavespring and pressure spring that sits behind the planetary cover, were both in backwards. So I flipped them around, applied pressure with my hand while installing the snap ring, and bam. It went into place perfectly. Brand new forward, direct, low-reverse, and End clutches. :D This was the result.

So after that was accomplished, I set about my attention on the transmission pan. Oh my word was this thing...abhorrently filthy. It doesn't look so bad in the "before" shot with fluid in it...but pay attention in the "after" picture of all the bumps and bangs in the pan that you couldn't see before. It's because there was an easy 1/8th" worth of clutch material sticking to the pan everywhere, and the magnets were roughly twice the size of normal, because of clutch material and metal shavings from the previous failed fluid pump. There was so much clutch material it completely got through the cheap POS filter, and clogged the VB. There was so much covering every solenoid screen, it looked like mud. Included is a picture of the screen from Solenoid B. It was so clogged, it tore the screen. Ridiculous.

What a difference, right? That's the same pan. Whoa. :p

Also, here are the remaining two pictures. One is the screen from Solenoid B with the tear, and the other is the sealing ring[one of three] for the input shaft. It was torn like you see.

Also, as a bonus for getting this far...this is what came out of the transmission pan while I cleaned it. That's not dirt, the table was 100% clean before this. Every bit came just out of the pan, and there's probably 80% more than I scraped off the table before this picture.

All in all, I'd say "victory!" From here I need to replace the solenoids, find exactly ONE sealing ring for the input shaft, reassemble it, and hope to God everything's fixed. :p

Stay tuned. :)

Well, not necessarily a car update, but still pretty great news.

I recently had an interview for the Head Cook/Chef position at a private christian k-12 academy in NC, so I took the time to fly up there from Pensacola, and ended up being offered the position, which I accepted. :D There's tons of potential there, as I pitched a "cooking" class that I'd love to teach and the board loved it, and also asked if I wouldn't mind teaching a small "mechanics" class to teach the upperclassmen how to change/check oil, what sounds to listen for, basic knowledge/etc, and I'm quite excited about that. Also have full permission from the Principal to use the professional-quality, brand new kitchen for private/personal purposes. Even specifically mentioned that they'd be fine with me running a personal business/catering business out of the kitchen and would only charge a 5-6% fee for gas/lights/utilities used. So I've been hugely blessed.

On the other side of this coin, that means all progress on the DSM stops here. And for quite awhile I'm afraid, as I'll be so busy working two jobs and such to bother with a DSM that'll be 600+ miles away. I'm still keeping it, and I'll come back to it when I'm more established and not having such a crazy work schedule. But the trans is fixed, and it's all set to be built. I'll just take my time and when it's done it'll be a respectable DSM. :) But real life > DSM stuff. It's crazy good news, and God is good.

Until the next time,

Stay tuned. :)

Congrats man!

I know that all to well but life has to take priority over a car at times. You'll get back to it and make it even better then ever.

I'm not dead. :p This car is still in Florida though, lacking a couple parts before it can run. So no progress, however, I've picked up a second job in addition to the Head Chef job. :) So now I work a total of 55-60 hours a week, trying to save my money like a boss. One way or another, I'll have something fun here soon now that I'm on my feet and such. Don't know when the next update will be, but as I always say...stay tuned. ;) Hope everyone's doing alright!

I bought a few super powerful magnets from HDR [home depot racing] they were in the bolt section IIRC and I stuck them in my oil pan on my DD I'm eager to see if everything is running good LOL

and I feel Its good progress regardless how other people might criticize the extra effort we put into these projects, after all its the maintenance we do before the fun stuff that helps keep the fun stuff from becoming nightmares right LOL.

This big boy came today. Man I didn't remember/realize just how big these SSAC FMIC kits are for the 2G. Let's pray I don't have overheating issues. :p

Nice. The car with you now?

Not yet. I've got the transmission being rebuilt where the car is at in FL, and I have all the parts being shipped to me for the car itself here in NC. One weekend soon when I've got all I need I'm gonna drive down there in a rental, get it all installed/tuned/etc, and drive it back up to NC.

There was supposed to be more, but USPS is so inept at what should be an easy job, that they place a clearly labled box, in the wrong mailbox, losing the package completely. USPS essentially gives you the middle finger in this situation too with the response of "well, we delivered it." smfh. More to come as they're mailed.

So. Funny story. The package usps lost was actually FIC 850s. However they found it, LOL. But during that time I ordered more. Well the second set came in today and man am I glad they lost the first set. I found a brand new set of the blue max 850s for the same price as the older set. :D so needless to say now I'll have a set of FIC 850's for sale. :p

:D It's an Evo 3 16G, freshly rebuilt from the man, the myth, the legend, Justin Whitesell aka Jusmx141.

:D Unfortunately depending on my transmission situation, it may also be for sale here soon depending on how bad I need the cash. But in the meantime it sure is a pretty piece of equipment. Stay tuned, fellas.

Well, no need to sell any more parts(hopefully!) :D. Transmission finally was paid today, and I feel a lot better about it than before. Apparently the drum was burned up something bad, and there was metal all throughout the transmission. Rebuilder said it was the most he'd ever seen, so thank GOD I didn't try to rebuild this myself and run it. BW clutches and steels, new band, new front pump, new solenoids and VB, translab shift kit, blah blah blah. Finished off with a Buschur/Bushwacker Torque Converter. :D Looking forward to this thing finally. From here things shouldn't be so damn complicated and hopefully I'll be posting lots of videos of the cross-country drive in my 2G hotness from FL to NC.

Well, no pictures or anything, but it's finally running again. The transmission was rebuilt but the shop forgot to drill out the separator plate when installing the shift-kit, and they forgot to install a ball bearing/spring, so I made them fix it. The car is still in FL being driven by my father to test it out, and I had to sell the ECMLink and the injectors to help pay for the transmission, still got the 16G and the FMIC, for now and I hopefully plan to use them once I know the car is done with having it's issues and bi*** fits. :p

But, the son of a bi*** runs! Runs and drives. We'll see where it is in three weeks, and hopefully I'll have some pictures for you guys as I drive it off into the sunset with my new wife at our wedding on July 17th. :)

Well, got some updates to this finally.

1) The car is down again. The motor/longblock that was purchased from Stevie Miller aka Miller Import Parts, is complete junk. Was advertised as brand new freshly rebuilt and etc, and it wasn't. The head is leaking past the valve seals ever since I first got it, and it smokes, there's MASSIVE carbon buildup in the ports, as well as fresh oil. I've provided pictures in this thread already of that, but the new thing that happens is rod knock. Rod knock can happens even to the best motors, so the oil-pan was removed. Upon removal, it was discovered that the balance shaft delete was done incorrectly. The BS bearings weren't flipped, instead some weird JB Weld/RTV was used to "block" the holes, and of course that doesn't work. So upon closer inspection on top of that, the crank was cut .020" and used the wrong bearings on top of that. It's amazing that the engine even lasted this long, and I paid in the thousands for this motor under the guise it was "freshly rebuilt". So the car is down, and the motor will be rebuilt in house. Not using anyone else for anything I can't do personally. Buyer beware when you use Stevie because anytime I sent him a message on this motor he would express disbelief. He even went so far as to say the carbon/oil in the ports "looked normal" to him. Lol.

So because of this, I did this.

It's a 2013 Chrysler 200 Limited. It really fell into my lap and I'm thoroughly pleased with it. 3.6L V6, Flex Fuel, black leather interior, heated seats, power everything, Boston Acoustics Premium sound system. This thing has some cojones to be a 3 year old Sedan, and the Flex Fuel thing is awesome. So comfortable and enough power to keep me happy until I can get this Talon situation under control. Love this car. My wife's mother had one for years since it was brand new and put 100's of thousands of miles on it, and it never gave her a single mechanical issue. She wrecked the car three times and still no issues. Lol. So I'm happy. I've also learned a valuable lesson. When you buy a longblock supposedly "freshly rebuilt" get a warranty, get receipts, make sure you have proof, and GET A WARRANTY! Lol.

Still got this thing. I'm still alive. Been working my butt off. Hopefully this will be more active soon. Trying to move so that's eating up funds, plus my father screwed the paint up royally, but hey, at least I've still got it. Function > Form. Once I get it mechanically perfect, I'll worry about appearances. This also gives me an excuse to 2GB Talon swap it, because hey the paint sucks already! ;)
